No 103 of Living Life Series 1
Do not starve. Do not stuff. Do not bite off more than you can chew. In life we must not over do, be it food or otherwise. We need to know our priorities and limitations. Better to succeed in the issues of immediate necessity than to go for too many issues and be floored.
A bird in hand is worth two in the bush. Certainly, we often forget this and do not value as much what we have, only to regret later when it is no more there for us.
Why do we keep our eyes on what we do not have or envy what others have? The answer is this. Distant fields look greener. What they have may not be as wonderful as we perceive out of envy. Do value what we have.
Half a loaf is better than none. But we must prepare for the future.
Make hay while the sun shines. Do not delay in correcting or solving so-called minor problems thinking that they are trivial. A stitch in time saves nine. Do not be upset that the goal or objective is a long way off.
Little drops of water make a mighty ocean. Certainly we can join hands with others to make an ocean out of life. This too is another road we can take.
There are of course more than one way. Many roads lead to Rome is another proverb.
The inner truth of life is in the image of Lord Bo Tien. The seated image of Lord Bo Tien portrays life, the need to balance life as depicted by feet atop yin and yang. There is the need to be at peace with our wants and what we do not want but cannot help having. This will bring peace as depicted by left hand in salutation. We need to hold on to spiritual way or tool that will lead us to eventual sainthood as portrayed in the seated image by right hand holding sceptre. More important is the immediate peace and comfort we can have here and now. This will be heaven on earth here and now.
