No 102 of Living Life Series 1
Most people do not know enough of their own life and world, let alone what lies beyond. Yet when it comes to issue of heaven, God and heavenly saints, they think they know more.
But what they know is of this world and not beyond. They may even testify and evangelise. This is based on noble intentions. But it is far from right to fault others beliefs of say God just because they differ from their convictions.
Doesn't this ring a bell? People are like the blind men and the elephant. How can the one who felt the tail tell the others that it is not a wall, a flap, a tree trunk but a snake? That will be audacious and bordering somewhat on the blind trying to lead the blind.
In spiritual domain, each religionist is eager to evangelise to the world that their notion of God and religion is more correct. Like the blind men and the elephant, all are both neither right nor wrong, or rather both right and wrong. The argument can be till kingdom come.
The religions are there to meet diverse needs and reach out to all and to provide options. They should complement and bring all closer to one another and to divinity. There is the same underlying inner truth behind the facades of religions and the sects. Perception and acceptance of this is the will of Divinity and the very reason for the mission entrusted to heavenly saints like Lord Bo Tien
Religion, like race, should not be divisive. There is oneness in diversity so true in the one world we live in.
Certainly, the blind men and the elephant is not a story or lesson for children only but a spiritual lesson for all of mankind.
