The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

The Three Sitiawan Pointers

No 347 of Living Life Series 1

Lord Bo Tien

Map from Wikipedia showing in red the State of Perak in Malaysia

Lord Bo Tien had said in 1975 at Sitiawan temple (Perak Malaysia) two days after mission day of 13th day of nine lunar month: -

(1) Those who pray with sincere heart to the saint, the saint will take heed and those who seek the saint for blessings, the saint will come to bless them.

(2) Big issue will be small issue and small issues will be no issue if men seek the blessings of the saints.

(3) The far may be near and the near may be far.

Lord Bo Tien

It is significant that the three statements were said on the same occasion and of all places at Sitiawan (Perak, Malaysia) on the day of inception of the poly-marble image of the lord saint.

The three statements can be taken independently or together.

It is evident that men must be sincere when they go to a temple.  That sincerity makes the difference and must come from the heart. The focus must be on divinity and not on man and the agenda of men. Man is man and God is God.

Many go to a temple like insects and ants to a flower to get the nectar. They are not committed to the purpose of the descent of a heavenly saint like Lord Bo Tien. They have no sincerity towards divinity that comes from the heart. They merely wants worldly blessings. They supersede the mission of Heaven and the saint with their own agenda.

They will get what they want like insects get nectar from a flower but that is all. It is significant to take note that those who come to the lord saint with sincere heart of wanting to play role to support His Mission will not just go for the nectar but will harvest the fruits and seeds so that new plants and seeds will grow for the good of the many and out of compassion for the world.

The nectar is just the initial attraction but whether men wakes up and go for more than the nectar is the issue that will effectively mean they will play role in saving souls not only their own but others. The issue for nectar for worldly gain is just the worldly agenda but the big issue is to save the world and this means how to save men from the cycle of births and deaths.

Though this is onerous and a receding rainbow for many, what matters is to have commitment to God and saints and not the shortsighted agenda of men at worldly level. The few committed to God and saving of souls will survive through the storms and droughts of life.

The saving of souls is the big issue. Such big issue may not be solved in one lifetime but at least with the blessings of refuge in God and saints, even the big issue will  be lesser issue even if it cannot be resolved at one go. The good men of God and saints will upgrade themselves from life station to life station and from life to life as they are rooted in the mission to save souls, their own as well as others

The other noteworthy aspect is that while many clamour for control and dominance of a religious place like a temple, such men may not be as God-worthy as the meek and stand alone few who chose to be at the fringe. and not squabble over the agenda of men.

The men who are swollen headed and dominate a temple and usurp the true divine purpose of the temple of the lord are like the fruit trees in a plantation but when drought comes, even the farmers could not save the trees from withering.

But the good men at the fringe who are rooted in divine principles and motivated in divinity may not be as stout and showy in normal times but when drought comes they will still stand, flower and bear fruit. They last beyond this life and thrive beyond this life as they are rooted in sub-terrain water of inner truth (divine truth) and are able to nourish and save their souls while the rest in the temple of man or plantation withers and fades like lost souls.

Thus the far (that is those who are at the fringe but are rooted in divinity and mission) may be near and the near (who are in the man made temple and seek glory of concrete temple of man) may be far (from God). Their souls wither and go astray waiting to be saved by those at the fringe, those whom they thought could not make it but actually make it for they were sincere and rooted in water of divine mission and truth. (For the reconstructed 1979 message on the tree at the fringe, go to the prelude of 1980 message by clicking  Lord Bo Tien's 1980 Anniversary Message)

There are three historical temples built in the name of the lord saint. Two were at Sitiawan  (Perak State of Malaysia) but based on mission visit in February 2012 by Elder Ling Diung Kwong only the first is likely to continue to stand and grow as the legal existence of the second is under question. The other beside these two awaits a fate that depends on how it is managed. All depends on how a temple is managed. Can a temple be like the lone tree at the fringe rooted in sub-terrain water of inner truth and orientated towards the Mission of Heaven and not the agenda or mission of man?

The answer is obvious and options are open. It all depends on the men who are at the helm. Certainly they can make it if they want to. They can make it by rooting themselves in God and saints and not in the ways of men. They can and they should.

Thus though the management of a temple can be near to the saint, they may indeed be far. They chose worldly welfare issues  as the primary end instead of means to the end. The primary end should be the saving of souls. Emphasis should be on saving souls.

Welfare issues are secondary though they admittedly are important initial means to that end for a significant many. They go for the smaller issues and forget to handle the big issue. Thus they neglect the big issue of the need to save souls and let it fester in the background of life, wasting precious time.

If they are sincere and want to be close to the saint, the saint will go to them and bless them. With the blessing of the saint, even the big issue of saving souls will be no issue but at least lesser issue if it cannot be no issue for the interim. Handle this big issue and other smaller issues will be no issue. But if men go for smaller issues, they may be so carried away that they leave the big issue of saving souls aside. That would defeat the purpose of the descent of a saint like Lord Bo Tien.

The Three Sitiawan pointers were made in the small subsidiary temple at Sitiawan Perak, Malaysia. The lord saint must have his reason for giving the three pointers there. The far and seemingly at the fringe may be near and the near may indeed be far. This may well be for any temple in the world, not necessarily that at Sitiawan Town of Perak State of Malaysia.

Mission needs only one or two and at most a handful

No 346 of Living Life Series 1

The Mission of Heaven with Lord Bo Tien as messenger is not the mission of man. It is by God and saints for all men and beings.
The lord saint said that the Mission needs only a handful of the right men and even one or two is enough. This is to ensure that the Mission will not end up a mission of man.
The issue is that most will understand only at initial levels of spiritual grasps and equate mission as the occasional devotion and welfare activities and do not go to the crux of the matter which is to save souls and enabling others to elevate themselves beyond life and death which even those in some lofty heavenly states have yet to achieve.
Doing good is not good enough but we need to go beyond and have the inner peace come what may be it good or bad. We need to be with yin and yang and yet have peace amidst the yin and yang, the ups and downs.
Mission needs only one or two and at most a handful. This did Lord Bo Tien say.
Lord Bo Tien
Even Gautama Buddha on his enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree knew that few will understand the truth but on persuasion by Lord Sakra, he agreed to spread and disseminate the truth as at least a small number could understand and succeed. That would be good enough.

Lord Gautama Buddha

Ji Gong's life too is worth learning from. His life as a human was an enigma of sorts. He did what the contemporary priests and monks would never do. But he feared not of being misunderstood and  practised from the heart and not from the gut. Many could not see how he could succeed but he did. Only a few amongst his huge following could understand how he succeeded.

Only this finite few could grasp and practise the truth at insightful level and save souls, not only their own souls but that of others as well. The great majority of men would just be content to receive his blessings and help in times of worldly difficulties but hopefully they would one day be like the few and save their souls and that of others.

After all, the great master Ji Gong knows that overcoming worldly difficulties that is the mundane issues of life will one day pave the way for supra-mundane enlightenment. But few amongst his  many devotees are ready for that level. There are only one or two and at most a handful ready to save themselves, let alone play role in the Mission of Heaven which is ultimately to save all souls

What Ji Gong wants us to know

No 345 of Living LIfe Series 1

Go for the inner truth of issues - solutions often simple and require sincerity from the heart. Many go for the wisdom of ancient sages but yet the profound truth is often simple and difficult to perceive, as what late Snr Bro P. Philip of Bo Tien Mission said. Read on to have a grasp of what Ji Gong wants us to know

Ji Gong the Living Buddha

Ji Gong the Living Buddha goes direct to the inner truth* and not the ways of men in name of conventional religious institutions, practices and traditions.

He said that what matters is what goes through the heart and not what goes through the guts. Otherwise there is risk that men of religion may end up as wolves in sheeps' clothing and be modern day Pharisees. Sincerity, honesty and purity must come from the heart. Of what use is vegetarianism when one is defiled by thoughts of dislike for fellow men and beings, when one has ill will and paucity of love  for lesser beings not only the human kind but also of animal kind as well

Do not pander to the whims and fancies of the problem prone folks amongst men and look up to men, He said. It is onerous to serve  man but not so with God and saints. God is benevolent and insects amongst men can come to the house of God but man will not let them be in man's house and will even hang them if need be.

The issues of men are many and plentiful. Look up to men and more issues you will have. Look up to God and saints instead. Big issues will be small issues even if they cannot be no issue. Small issues will be no issues. But if men look up to men, at times small issues can even end up as big issues. Men may end up getting divided in the name of religions and even for the same sect or religion. Bigotry festers and  terrorism rares its ugly head.

The views of Ji Gong are also that of all saints like Lord Bo Tien

Be God-centric and not Man-centric. Go for the inner truth behind religions. Worship God and saints but not men. Man is man and God is God. This too did Lord Bo Tien say.

The solutions to life problems are often simple and the reason why they are not resolved are often due to expectations. Ji Gong blessings come in simple ways and at times he opens our eyes to go for simplicity. For example when wealth is our perceived solution, what is more important is peace and smoothness in life.

We ask for more when we can have more for less than what we expect. We need to go to the inner truth behind life experiences and phenomena. The truth that matters is often simple but difficult to perceive for those entangled in the web of life

The life of Ji Gong as human is case for learning. He was even considered not fit to be a monk in a monastery and was asked to leave the premises. Thereafter as a more than simple wanderer frolicking with even monkeys, he could achieve greater spiritual heights without being bounded by complexities and intricacies of monastic life.

Ji Gong the Living Buddha epitomises two perfections of (1) perfect vision that is clarity of vision of life through simplicity and (2) spiritual purity through the heart rather than through the gut - shallow and misplaced and outward show with no heartfelt depth and sincerity

God Almighty and the saints of religions

* PS: Ji Gong the Living Buddha goes direct to the inner truth and not dwell on the ways of men in name of conventional religious institutions, practices and traditions.

There is also the helicopter view of the inner truth elucidated as the House of God as further explained thus by the representatives of  Lord Bo Tien, the messenger of God.

Lord Bo Tien

Religions are the pillars of the House of God. The Heavens and divinity comprising God, the Pure Ones and the Saints are roof to shelter the beings under the heavens.

The pillars guide beings to the huge mansion and are the markers for the mansion, otherwise beings will not be able to know that they are in the vicinity or in the House of God as this house is omnipresent and yet many may not see or be able to know and be in the house.

Are we mission ready ?

No 344 of Living Life Series 1

Lord Bo Tien and his divine representatives had stressed not once but on many occasions the need for men to be mission ready for Heaven. His messages came down in two ways --- through the mission day messages on 13th day of nine lunar months and through the substantiation by his representatives in between messages in the first cycle of thirteen years.

The anniversary or mission day messages were at least recorded and published in a book Lord Bo Tien's Teachings but the substantive part of doctrine given by representatives' sessions in between were not. The substantive doctrine aspects were transmitted by word of mouth through early members.

We must realise that time and again the lord saint said that he was not here to start a new religion or sect. He was not here to do what existing religions, temples or places of worship do.

His representatives exhorted that a spiritual group must go to the roots of truth and lead by example by instituting changes towards simple and pure religiosity and not toe or be beholden to bewildering ancient cultural practices. A spiritual group should be one above the many others by being exemplary and not be one of the many.

The reason is that as religions evolved over the centuries, the initial pristine principles change and take on more added worldly or conventional thinking, as a result of the thinking and perceptions of subsequent leaders or "new-contractors" as succinctly put in one of the lord saint's later mission day messages. Thus we see new books, songs, chanting and various practices not present during the days of the pioneers and founders. This is neither necessarily exactly bad nor exactly good .

To do what everyone else are doing will defeat the purpose of the descent of Lord Bo Tien but to start something new may give the mistaken notion that other religions and sects are not right. In fact, the lord saint stressed that the existing institutions are right but many may not be able to perceive the essence of the inner truth of God behind the proliferation of sects and religions and the layers of traditions and beliefs added over the centuries in any one of the many religions or sects.

The descent of the lord saint to make himself an unknown saint known to the world of men is not to model what have been done in all the temples and churches of the world. That would not make it necessary for his coming or to put it bluntly defeat the purpose of his descent. The lord saint wants his followers not to do what others are already doing but to lead by examples so that others may follow, emulate and re-orientate themselves closer to the way of God rather than to man.

He has even stressed that this would not be easy for it is in the nature of the world that insects amongst men will be attracted to the flower of his initiative. On the other hand, it too must be realised that the surviving early pioneers may too be like insects trying to go to the flower for nectar

But the lord saint like the flower cannot be blamed if insects want to come to it for the nectar. Blame not the saint if people come not for the mission to orientate men towards God but instead prefer to go for the pursuits and conflicts of men in the name of God.

The sad part is that men who come to a temple or church are often not God ready or rather mission receptive, let alone ready. But at least they may still do some good even if they run a religious institution, albeit for their own ends at times. They use the name of God not at the mission or divine level but at the human level.

It is thus often said by the lord saint and his representatives of a divine mission that heavenly representatives are often ready but not men. Thus Heaven will go on with the mission to bring the inner truth of God to all beings even if men are not. Lord Bo Tien even said that on his part, he would do so even if only a handful of men in his following are ready. Nevertheless, men should be reminded time and again to be mission receptive and ready. However, men can wait and procrastinate but not God and saints.

A prominent late member of the Bo Tien Mission is the Kedah State civil engineer and Colombo Scholar Mr Tay C. S. In the last few weeks of his life with terminal lung cancer, he requested Elder Ling and another pioneer to his hospital bedside. He shared that he should have done more for the mission as well as write more on the mission and principles of Lord Bo Tien.

He managed to write out a book and a samaritan helped him to print and distribute it, albeit with limited circulation. He would have wanted to do that much more. He do not want others in the mission to face the same setback.

He shared that though he was in pain, when he wrote his thoughts on the mission in the closing days of his life, he was able to do so with less pain. Before he had the illness, he did not see the urgency. He shared with them  so that they should not waste time and can be better poised to be mission ready and orientated as time might not be on their side.

Are we mission ready? Hopefully, if we are, then we can set up Bo Tien Mission in the city --- even in the cities of the world? This may be a dream but all great things start as dreams............. Having a temple in the city had been foretold by the lord saint's representatives.

His mission is not about having a concrete building or many such buildings but having concrete steps to bring out the inner truth of God in any existing religion or sect. It is definitely not to start a new one and not to do what others had and have been doing but to do better to bring men closer to God essence through their existing religious affiliations. There is need to revive man's grasp of inner truth behind religion.

The folly of self-righteousness

No 343 of Living Life Series 1

Right or wrong is not for us to judge. What is right may yet be wrong in other way. What is wrong may too be right if seen from another way.

Do not be self righteous. The far may be near and the near may be far. This did saints like Lord Bo Tien say.

Better to agree to disagree and at times even to disagree to agree.

What is your say, my dear friends? A friend may not be friend at times and a foe may yet be friend. This is life my dear friends.

Be mindful of yin and yang in life be it by day or by night, and come what may.

A coin has two sides and we too as well. Both sides belong to the one but how many can see from two sides, let alone from all sides. How many can see the whole that is made up of yin and yang as the sages of old would want us to know.

Do not be self righteous but be mindful and be as correct as we can. Judge not lest ye be judged. Learn from life situations not only our own but others as well.  This too the lord saint Lord Bo Tien did say. In short, life is the living gospel.

By being not self righteous and  by learning directly from life, we can and we surely will be more correct. There is need to stress that we steer clear of being self righteous and judgemental. That way we will not fail ourselves or others. We are less likely to hurt ourselves or others.

Do not for once think that a Mr Ken should not be at the helm of a spiritual organisation. He may appear to not fit the bill of a religious leader (pastor, priest or clergy) and he seems focus on worldly concerns confined to social support services and personal worldly agenda rather than spiritual focus.

Who the lord saint of that organisation would like to allow to be in the hot seat is the prerogative of the saint. A saint can even facilitate a criminal or say, the most unlikely person to be in the hot seat if the saint chooses to train such a person and let him learn even by making what other men would consider as glaring unpardonable mistakes that taint his integrity and standing. This Lord Bo Tien says can apply to all religious organisations.

This adds deeper meaning to what the lord saint reminds that we learn from the mistakes and lives of others including our own. This does not mean others should be idle and let things be. Who knows that a lord saint of that one  organisation may well have in place an elder leader (senior pastor, priest or clergy) from pioneer years to check on and to moderate any excess and to ensure continuity link of sorts.

This elder too may also be chosen to be be trained by the saint. That elder too has his good and not so good points and can even be like an unpolished diamond that appears disgusting and yet is precious and effective, though wrong in some ways.

At times the pioneers may be off the mark and the current leaders may be closer to the mark but there must still be the respect, like the respect given to our forefathers however off the mark they may be. Even if there be need to undo what the forefathers did, there must be acceptance of the contributions and the roles of the forefathers.

It must be reiterated that it is definitely not right for younger new leaders to be not respectful of the elder as this may break the cohesiveness in the organisation.  The precept for respect of elders would be breached and precepts are there for a purpose.

Thus there may then appear to be repetitive replays of the ever present yin and yang issues in the world we are in. The trials that play out over time may lead to balance of yin and yang which if effective will bring peace and blessings to all involved and those around.  Each leader may think what he does is right and pours scorn on those who differ.

But this is just manifestation of the folly of self-righteousness. No need for jeers or cheers but indeed  they may constitute valuable lessons in life on the folly of self-righteousness.

The yin and yang saga may likely too be a replay of past lives issues not resolved and being replayed in current lives. Both the good and not so good are manifested for the individuals to develop further in the present lives. Hopefully the yin and yang replay will end up well with the issues being played out further and if all augur well, more peace and wisdom will be for all sides.

But if issues, task or mission end up worse, undone, unresolved or incomplete, then  the issue, task or mission will return to haunt those involved in next lives. But if only one party can bite the bullet, take corrective actions and is able to resolve the issues even if in distaste, then that party not only does good for himself but for other parties as well --- of course this would be better still if other parties learn and gain in wisdom as well.

This perspective on issues continued from past lives may be beyond rational thinking to doubters but provides insight on why must issues be like that. Don't you agree on plausibility? It also provides insight on how not to muddle up our lives beyond this life.

The secrets of Heaven cannot be told but inner truth netizen would like to share with the few fortunate enough to read this post the insight to the secrets. Be mindful not to be self-righteous and think others are wrong. They may be wrong in a way but not wrong in other ways. Never jump to conclusions.

The need for control of others is not the way of God and saints

No 342 of Living Life Series 1

Man has animal nature and tends to want to manipulate and control others, as like in a pack of wolves. This is clearly the case in many an organisation, temple or church. If men can live and let live, they would be saints and out of this world.

Even God does not control and allows freewill. He opens multitude of ways through saints. Only the ignorance of men portray God to be like man --- to have wrath and to be a control freak. He is Om and omnipresent with his benevolence, being the zenith of love and compassion. How can there be wrath and why must God exert control  and fear --- effectively making puppets out of men? He rather we know what he expects us to do and leave it to us to learn and grow based on free will and goodwill.

In early years, a prophet or saint of God will coerce and use the stick as disciples were new but once they know all that were told, they need to practise what were taught and to live and roam life in any way they will. They need to learn and grow on their own. There will be no stick for wrong but cheers and blessings for right by God and saints above. All will reap what they sow and all will eventually learn and grow in God and his saints consciously or otherwise

There is no place for divine control through any saint or prophet once the religion or sect is established and the teachings promulgated and disseminated

This too is the way of the messenger of God - Lord Bo Tien. He too emphasized on the complementary roles of religions and sects There is the need for not one but many religions and sects to reach out to the many and out of compassion to the world so that more may know God and be one with Divinity. There is need to allow men to be free to think and to be even free thinkers, even to be atheists. For they too can live and grow in God-like ways without knowing God

Often, it is not God and saints who want to pit one religion or sect against another but it is men who see the need for control because of the animal nature of men. The divine nature will not embrace any place for control and manipulation that encroaches on ill-placed narrow mindedness, intolerance and ill will.

Lord Bo Tien

The need for control is the weakness of man and not God and saints. Man has animal nature and tends to want to manipulate and control others. This is clearly the case in many a temple or church as well. If men can live and let live, they would be saints and out of this world.

The need for control of others more so in matters on religion is not the way of God and saints. This applies not only to men but to beyond men. God does not see the need to control even the Devil for the Devil is also one of his own, albeit a fallen angel. Even the Devil will come to see the light but there will always be others to take over his place as the Devil. Isn't this a refreshing perspective? Also, the devil is not in the Devil but is inherent in the weakness or crude base nature of every a man or being.

God and saints have no need for control of others. Men have difficulty in following this divine way but for sure, men can do so in their own human ways but at least try to be a wee bit like God and saints by being more humane. Humans after all are like God but only if they are more humane. Man can take on the image of God by being more human and humane.

One day they will be closer to God and his ways when they are that divinely humane and no longer see the need to control others and learn to let go, guide and help those who help themselves and let many have the choice of options in life. This is so even if they do not see eye to eye. There is no need to control and use the hammer to enforce their understanding and ways on others.

Isn't this familiar with what modern society refer to as democracy but even for democracy there must be out of bound markers to serve as guidance. Control beyond guidance will kill life, initiative and growth of the spirit.

This does ring a bell in what Lord Bo Tien said. The principles of life that work for spiritual growth if applied to worldly life will also work for mundane life but perhaps not the reverse.

Shouldn't we agree, my dear friends? We have a choice not to do so. A saint sees no need to control but only to guide. How we live, we have to decide and we must and will.

God and saints help those who help themselves or rather God and saints bless those who bless themselves. But God and saints do not damn those who do not do right for themselves. They are always ready to guide but the choice is still left to men to decide how to live and grow.

The need for control is not the way of God and saints. Only wayward bigoted devout men in the name of religion, temple, God or saints will do so. Non-compliance is perhaps tantamount to blasphemy by some bigoted men but not by God and saints for they are divine and beyond human failings. Do not however consider this as the fault of religion, temple, God or saints. You cannot blame the flower if ants and insects come to it. This insight is what Lord Bo Tien wants us to know.

Go for the happiness that you can cope

No 341 of Living Life Series 1

The mundane happiness we have is as good as it lasts and even then there is the catch that with it comes trade-offs. If we cannot accept the trade-offs, then go for the mundane joy that may be lesser but at least you can accept the set-backs that may come with it. This is the very nature of mundane life -- the worldly life.

We must be able to contend with the good and the not so good of worldly life. We need to moderate and consider what is within our ability to handle and cope. We must know what we are comfortable with in every aspect of life.

This means we have to balance both the active and passive aspects in our worldly life. The sages of old call this yin and yang and the balance of these will be best so that we are less troubled and can move on.

But if we practise the balance of yin and yang to higher levels we attain that inner peace of spirit and can purify our spirit to be so at peace with life despite the ups and downs as we are not affected by both but are atop both.

We then experience the inner joy of peace with life and able to be one with the sages amongst men as well as with God and saints.

Go for the happiness that you can cope and be on way to inner peace with God. Even if you want to lead the spiritual life, you cannot deny mundane joys and be a beggar and torture yourself.  That would be running away from life and going for the most passive and ignoring the rest. That would be far from the balance needed both for worldly and spiritual life or to put it in another way for mundane and supra mundane.

Lord Bo Tien says that the principles that apply to spiritual life will be applicable to worldly life. Inevitably, there must be balance of yin and yang in whatever we do as depicted by his image and by the Ba Gua as well.

Lord Bo Tien in divine pose to depict the doctrine.
The balance of yin yang is as shown by feet on elements.
The left hand in salutation bids us to be resolute and the right hand bids us to hold on to the way as symbolised by the sceptre

Do  note that for everyone even if he does not subscribe to any religious beliefs, he must go for the happiness that he can cope. But if he does this well, overtime he can reap more blessings of peace even more than the man of faith. Thus Lord Bo Tien says that the far may be near and the near may be far.

The Bagua is both for religious person and for the man without any religion. The Taiji with holistic roundness and balance of yin and yang as well as the eight categories of trigrams of yin and yang surmise the wisdom of the ancient sages of the East.

Go beyond past, present and future

No 340 of Living Life Series 1

Never a day should pass without learning from life past and present soon to pass.

The present well lived is better than the glorious past and a future yet to pass.

Let not the past eat away our present.

Let not dream away about future that yet to be and lay to waste our present soon to pass.

Let's work on the present for the present is a present from the past and a step towards a future so vast.

The present is a certainty and the future yet to be but is sure to come and pass.

Is there more to life than past, present and future that will surely come to pass?

There is, but only if we go for the unconditioned, uncaused and unoriginated --- the peace that transcends life's trials and tribulations, triumphs and trivialities. It is only achieved if we are in the thick and thin of life that is we must not run away for we cannot go away from life.

This peace is there come what may. Sages call that peace - the inner peace that can bloom like the lotus amidst the mud of yin and yang but more than the lotus, it is the one peace that will last for it is unconditioned, uncaused and unoriginated.

This inner peace that transcends past, present and future as well as the life we know is what Lord Bo Tien wants us to know and is spelt out in his image. The doctrine of inner peace is in his image.

There is need to balance life like depicted by his feet on yin and yang. There is need to be steadfast like depicted by his left hand in resolute salute. There is need to hold on to the inner peace mission in life like his right hand on the divine sceptre.

Live and let live

No 339 of Living Life Series 1

Empty vessels make the most noise.

The wise are the silent ones who learn from their lives and others lives.

Better to be dumb than to speak and add salt to others wounds.

This is perhaps true within the fold of a spiritual organisation when many views are expressed and consensus not the norm.

Let not anyone speak ill of another and his views.

Live and let live.

How can two be exactly attuned when they are different in almost all ways.

This is reflective of the yin yang world but yin and yang must be there.

They must co-exist and complement to add variety and choice, to give glimpses to the various angles of life and truth.

Do spare a thought and live and let live. We are better off that way and we learn more about life and God and saints.

Many seek the truth of ancient wisdom but the wise are those who never fear of being misunderstood. They learn to hold their tongues.

Endurance is one's innocent glory in the next world.

This did late Bro Philip want us to know, more so now and in the future when he is no longer with us.

But though silent and apart from us as he had passed on, he can speak to us from beyond as in this short post, don't you agree?

Only the wise remain silent for silence can at times speak better.

Empty vessel makes the most noise but a vessel filled with water of wisdom and merits do not but still that more effective.
