No 933 of Living Life Series 1
It is not a bad thing for religions to take turns to be in the lead. Every era will have one or two new lead religions. The lead religion will innovate and evolve and be propelled by the world powers of the era.
The face of a lead religion will go in tandem with the cultural dominance of the world power. This will allow the lead religion to influence other religions and be influenced in turn by other religions so as to imbibe best practices and be even better at leading. The lead religion will imbibe practices that were otherwise less known in the past.
Like world powers which come and go, lead religions too will rise and ebb away from lead role in tandem with the world powers. History will bear witness to the cyclical rotation of religions to be the lead religion.
The lead religion will take on the social culture and values of the world power of the era. This though should not make religion less attractive. In fact, it is more attractive. The selling or persuasive power is there. People like to align themselves with the power of the day.
This attracts crowds never seen before. This attracts men who otherwise would not care to even think of religion. This is an asset to bring more into religion and to learn to be closer in ways to God and saints.
We must however understand that the assertive dominance of a lead religion may not be in line with the original spirit of the founder saint. Often the founder sage or saint was submissive and subservient to the authority of the land during his time.
Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨is of the view that the sage would encourage followers to give to God and saints what is due to God and saints and to Man what is due to Man. Comply with laws of God and the land
But when the religion that arose from the sage's teachings becomes championed by the powers that be in a new era, and it becomes the lead religion, it takes on not a submissive passive role but instead a dominating assertive and authoritative role that is not in keeping with the original style.
God and saints end up to be feared more so by non-believers when previously people fear the rulers of the land and seek solace in God and saints.
A religion changes when it ends up as the lead religion. It takes on the dominating nature of the powers that be. It manifests the egotistic human nature of the power that be.
That is why we must not accept blindly what others do in the name of religion. We must go to the essence or fundamentals.
Often this has to do with humility, passivity and tolerance and love for those who differ and are not in tune. These are attributes of purity of spirit. We must go for the inner truth behind religions, more so the lead religion. This is the advice of the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨.
By all means, go for any religion we fancy and be part of the lead religion but be mindful of the original focus of the founder sage or saint. The powers that be may project a very different image of the founder sage or saint that is in keeping with what they are and very different from what the sage or saint was.
All founder sages are meek, honest and docile. They are pure and lovable. They are not to be feared and will not create fear and will steer clear of fomenting submission and persecution. They have no ego, ill-will and bad feelings for even those who denounce them or persecute them. How would they want their names to be the excuse to coerce others into fear and submission?
For example, in a Buddhist school, children will be told to pray to the Buddha for forgiveness if they don't do well in school work. They end up fearing the Buddha when the Buddha is about love and not fear. All sages are about love and not fear.
