No 909 of Living Life Series 1
Let us remember that religion is only the means to the end of finding meaning in life.
But there are many who go for religion as though it is the end in itself. They find joy in being in a house of God and they find joy in the company of fellow men.

They look up to the leadership of the man at the rostrum. They idolize the monk or priest more than the sage or prophet.
The monk becomes the replacement sage. The physical house of God becomes the heaven. The sermons of the man at the rostrum becomes more interesting and captivating than the standard texts of the scriptures. The brethren in the house of God take on an angelic aura.
Religion is not meant to be the end in itself but the means to the end. The end is to cultivate spirituality and have joy of spirituality beyond mere happiness in the fellowship of men, in the leadership of the man at the rostrum and beyond the house of God. Religion should not unknowingly defeat the primary purpose of religion.
The place of religion is to serve the spiritual needs of men to reach spiritual joy with guidance of the sage and not the worldly joy of human fellowship with guidance of the man at the rostrum. Religion is to grow the interests in the scriptures rather than the thinking and experience of the monk or priest.
Religion should never end up replacing spiritual joy with worldly joy. Religion should not end up making worldly joy as synonymous with spiritual joy. The means should not end up as the end in itself. Men should not mistake the worldly orchestrated joy in the house of God as the spiritual joy but at most as prelude and incentive to that joy.
Mistake not worldly joy in religion as the spiritual joy. That would be promoting worldliness and joy of the world and senses that are of this world and not opening up the doors to joy beyond the world of senses and the world of flesh and blood.

That is why the sages of spirituality never say that men will not die but they all say that men will have to die and be resurrected hopefully in more spiritual sense. Men must learn to be pure in spirit and for that, they must be separated from the body one day, hopefully not to take another form or body again - at least to take less of the form or body.
Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 points out to the oneness of religions and sages in trying to help men overcome the ills of worldly life. He wants men to know the pure life possible in the worldly life that is beyond the worldly life.
This is encouraged by all religions in their own ways. But despite the differing ways, there is oneness of purpose - spiritual salvation and joy beyond the worldly mundane joy. He wants to reawaken men more and more to the spiritual joy of religions rather than the worldly joys that men of religions may still be so preoccupied with even in their houses of worship and spirituality.
