No 957 of Living Life Series 1
In anything we do in life, we do it not only for self but for others as well. This others can be family members, colleagues at work or in society. Some refer to this as the need to work in tandem with fellow men.
Initially, for most, it is because of the need to meet the needs of self. We cannot do this without meeting the needs of relevant others. This in itself is a lesson in life. This has to do fellowship.
We need to meet the needs of others if we want to meet our needs. No one can meet his own needs without meeting the needs of relevant others.
If we want to love ourselves, we must learn to love others and the better we are at this the better this will be. Love should not be centered on the individual but on more than one. Even love for close one must involve concerns and welfare of the family of the close one.
There is thus many lessons in life we can pick up. Life is the living gospel and tells us how to love ourselves and why if we don't also love others, we won't be able to love ourselves effectively.
The converse is also true that if we just don't love ourselves, we cannot effectively love others for the self sacrifice and negligence would mean we cannot go far in loving others. Wisdom must take center stage.
That life is the living gospel is behind the teachings of all religions. This was stressed by the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨. Life is the best teacher on how to be better as person, as family and as society. Life is God and is always there with us. The lessons of life promote worldly as well as spiritual growth.
