The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

Be the man we must be - not the man we should not be

No 919 of Living Life Series 1

Who or what is more important? Is it Man, Word or God?

We can never know God well enough safe through the Word he wants us to know. Religions have allot to tell but while these stories endear us to God, there is the barrier between God and man.

Religions all say that it is the Word that removes the barrier but we are no closer to know and be personal with God. So the religions try to fill us in but what they tell us though good to hear leaves more to be desired. When we ask for more and raise doubts, we are told to have faith.

So what have the scriptures of religions have to say. God and for that matter any saint stresses that rather than know God and saint, we should know the Word. The Word stands for God and saints,

Why must we do so? Well, the ills of man is because man has clinging or longing. This longing takes on more longing for this and that. This is all because of the need to ever please the self or ego.

So, do we forget about self and go for God? Well, be careful. There is the risk of seeing in God our own self and projecting our self or ego in God. We end up having more of the same. We think we are God and since God is in us, we can cling for more. Then instead of ameliorating the ego, we end up having more.

But of course if we go for the Word that teaches a virtuous life, a life of simplicity, honesty and humility, we become a better person, more peaceful and more alive to life. Then if we do not claim credit for this but instead give credit to God rather then self, we further subdue our ego. Only that way will belief in God and saints end up with less clinging and ego problem.

Taking this further, the next to consider is to know who is man and what it is that make us man? Yes, it is the clinging or ego. But won't denying self be bad - sort of mental suicide?

Well, we do try not to cling and have ego. But that does not mean we are no longer who we are. That does not mean we are no longer alive to life. In fact, we are more alive to life - the peace and blessings of life we have taken for granted and are blind to.

We find our inner peace and the true self that is more pure and less corrupted by ego. That is the man we should be. Then we are closer to being Man in the trinity of Man, God and the Word.

We are closer to being saints and to be with the saints. We are closer to being one with God and saints.

All religions teach the basic truth of the need to unravel in us the true pure Man. This is what the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 refers to as the Inner Truth behind religions. No wonder the good lord keeps reminding that like God, he the saint is the Word and the Word is him the saint. His image is the Word and the Word is in his image.
All religions teach us how to be pure, how to be not the man we should not be but the man we must be. We do so by not having denial of life and self, and by not going for the ills of life and self. There must be middle way. There must the balance of the two. We must suppress the two like depicted by the image of the lord saint with feet atop the two elements.

When we are able to do so, we arrive at being the true man - simple, honest and humble and ever more peaceful and alive to life. We become more aware to the blessings we have in every moment of life which we otherwise have been blind to, either because of denial of self or indulgence in ego.

Be the man we must be - not the man we should not be. We can do so through any sect, any religion or even without a religion. It is not necessary to be religious. It is only necessary to be correct.
