No 910 of Living Life Series 1
Logical religion can be not that logical if religion requires people to go beyond just belief and being good.
Religious culture from centuries past only require men to be good, not be bad and to be pure and simple.
Religion used to be between the individual and God and his saints.
There is no need to belong to a commune or a care group. There is no need to go through the texts or scriptures which are in anyway very much history of the times of the prophets and history of the land the prophets came from.
It is like knowing the history of another land more than the history of the land people are in. It is like adopting the culture of another land.
Well, many has realized this and are staying clear of complexity of organized religion so as to have a free spirit and return to the simplicity of yesteryear when all that is needed is to be good, not be bad and be pure and simple.
Organized religion runs the risk of putting people off if they put itself as a barrier between man and God. Do we need to go into tons of cultural history of a foreign land where the prophet or sage hails from?
Well, the answer is both yes and no. This should be left to the individual.
Remember we do not need to go into depth of religious and cultural history just so that we can pray, meditate, be good, not bad and be pure and simple.
Logical religion may not be that logical if it is too imposing and put barriers between man and God and saints. These barriers are often man-made and end up making simplicity of spirituality more remote to the ordinary man.
Man need not be a scholar of history and scriptures before he can be with God and saints.
Prophets and sages like Buddha in their lifetime move from place to place and at each place imparted a sermon or two, an advice or two and that often was enough for those won over by the sage.
Where was there the need to know and be conversant with the whole gamut of history and scriptural texts? Do give this some thought and wake up. Be simple and good. That is wiser, isn't it?
Perhaps, religion has somehow deviated from the simplicity of yesteryear. That is regrettable and is one reason why there is the fundamentalist revival - the return to fundamentals and basics, the inner truth that even Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 talks about.
Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 the messenger of the oneness of religions wants to reawaken the simplicity of spirituality that has been the backbone of all religions. This simplicity is the heritage we have from our ancestors. We must regain this heritage. Yes, we must regain the spiritual simplicity of our ancestors.
