The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

Vesak and what matters to all

No 1176 of Living Life Series 1

So is an individual less a follower of the teachings championed by the Buddha if he does not call himself a Buddhist? Is a person who calls himself a Buddhist but does not abide by the teachings still better off?

Is it wrong to follow some but not all the teachings? Did not the Buddha tells all not to believe just because some say such and such are said by the Buddha?

The Buddha wants all regardless of religions, regardless of professed Buddhists or not to question what have been taught or in the holy texts. Is this saying that it is all right to doubt and not wrong at all to doubt?

The good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 says that many may have doubts. We should not distance ourselves from them. Doubts arise because they do not understand but if they do understand, they may even know better than us. Doubts enhance the spirituality of men.

The good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 adds that there should be no fear and shame - no guilt if we believe not, are not right enough and have erred. It is not demerit to do so.

It is not how we can please God and saints or singing their praises. It is not how we hurt God and saints by not glorifying them or not listening to them. Men may be hurt if we do not praise and glorify them but not God and saints.

Those who boast of what they know in a temple or synagogue may not be better. They may be worse off. But if they learn and make good, they too can be as good and even better.

The issue is whether we can learn from life, not how right or how much we know. To be good is what matters. To avoid the not so good should matter as well.

Eventually it is how pure in mind or at heart we are. Do we have the heart to be even better - to be pure? Do good, avoid evil and purify the mind. This is what all need to do.

It is not matter of how much we know, which religion we are in, which religion we should change to, whether others approve of what we do.

What matters is ourselves. What matters is not what one does, believes or what goes through the gut, but what is in the heart or goes through the heart. This is the simple message of Ji Gong  济公  whose anniversary follows after Vesak.
