The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

Wait not for peace around to be at peace

No 546 of Living Life Series 1

The two parables of Lord Bo Tien often come to mind.

The first is that of insects coming to a flower for nectar and why we should not blame the flower for insects coming to it.

The other is that an ill-wind will blow and even the strongest man holding on to a big tree trunk cannot hold for long and will be blown away. But worry not for one day the wind will stop blowing and good men will return.

This two parables enable us to understand why certain events are simply just happening.

In the case of a faith, we often find at the pulpit, charismatic or impressive men who can move the crowd. But time will reveal they are not as good as they project themselves to be. While they appear to sing the tune of God and saints, they are merely taking cover to effect personal agenda.

Others may frown at them. But God and saints do not seem to do so. Do men blame God and saints for this? Yes, they may do so. But this is no fault of God and saints. Blame not the flower for insects coming to it. God welcomes them and wishes them well, hoping that one day by being in house of God and saints, they will mend and be saints. This is the benevolence of God and saints.

But meanwhile they appear to be like ill-wind sweeping into the house of God and saints. They unsettle the good men who have been in the house of God.

These good few try to expose them but often could not if they are to live by the teachings or Word. Often they try to live by the Word but they are still not good at that. They end up crossing swords and making fools of themselves instead for they end up not practising the finite little of the Word they know.

So the ones who have taken over the helm triumph and then many say that heaven have no eyes. But heaven have eyes but men are not as wise. They still lack the spiritual brain - the Word to know and do better and not ending up effecting an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. In the end they end up loosing more teeth and having two black eyes instead of one.

Thus the better of the lot who are still far from wise though so much more wise than the few who have taken over the pulpit will have to leave. They can hold on to big tree trunks but they cannot hold for long and will be swept away by the ill-wind of the few.

One day however, the strong wind will have to stop blowing and good men will return. Who are these good men? Are they the ones who were not as good but better than those at the pulpit or are they godsend people?

Well over the long haul, this is often played out in religion and that is why fundamentalist decry the taking over of religion by men who usurp religion and change its mission and style. They are like insects coming to take over a flower for nectar.

Blame not the flower for this. Blame not God for this. It will always happen and there is no stopping for this from happening. This is in the very nature of life.

Life is imperfect. God and saints are perfect but not men and religion is by men though in the name of God and saints. So what do we expect.

Worry not as there is learning in the process by all and this learning is good though frustrating at times. Life is the living gospel for men to learn. This is reiterated by Lord Bo Tien.

The better of the lot must not play God and try to take action for God. The ill wind in form of the few opportunists at the helm will not last for long. When the wind abates and stop blowing others will return or will come.

Is this the setting for the second coming of a prophet? Well ask God or just wait and be at peace. We cannot wait for peace to be around us before we can be at peace at heart.

We have to live life and the ups and downs, the yin and the yang but still be on top of life and be at peace - not affected by yin and yang. Don't try to play God and saints by trying endlessly to arrange all that are around us, be they men, events or situations. Don't ever wait for peace around us or in others before we can be at peace.

Peace is what great religions and great men talk about. We can be at peace even this instant and not wait for peace around us. Vesak is about peace and this post is timely for great occasions like Vesak.
