The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

Ballad on Ji Gong for Vesak

No 543 of Living Life Series 1

Ji Gong entered a monastery in days of old
To learn what truth he already knew in life.
But what he saw he was appalled
Hipocrisy so rife in monks he knew
Did make him out to be not cut to be one.

How could he be one when he was not to be

A farce of sorts if he is to join the crowd
to make a mockery out of the holy trail.
He rather be with beggars, monkeys and the lot.

Ji Gong never a 'monk' but a living buddha.
Unfit for robes and draped in beggar rags,
he was more than a monk and no less a buddha.
Few could match up to him even if monks they were.

He is more than worthy of mention on Vesak Day
for one who never made it in a temple as monk -
defrocked and not given robes or markings of monks,
a fate no better than being crucified on the cross
but he became no less a buddha Ji Gong Huo Fo.

He was pure at heart despite drinking and merry making,
dancing and prancing with children and monkeys alike
but always right neither indulgent nor denying life,
going for token comforts to sustain purity of heart in life
never acting holy wholly and acting the part though he is one.

Can we be like him if not a little then even just a wee bit will do.
Then peace in life with vesak joy we have day on day
That would be nice and wholesome, won't it be so?
On Vesak day and for every day, let it be Vesak.

So we can in him see the light of life through the heart.
What matters is the heart and not what goes through the gut
What matters is what goes through the heart
and not one's outward empty show and manifest,
of what use if without substantiation from the heart.

That is how to be correct from day one we hope
and a Ji-Gong-let no less we will be, not just on Vesak Day
but day-on-day and from sunrise to sunrise we hope.
For everyday, Vesak will be always and ever more.

A Ji Gong in the making, no less we hope.
Eat meat and drink but with no love lost
for life and kindness too we hope for the lot.
It is the truth in heart that counts
We will make it if we have the heart of gold.

Ever happy and content even with less
For less is more and more is less.
Far is near and near be far
Didn't you know that sages said so?

Like Lord Bo Tien whom God sent to us
To bring out the truth in faiths
so more of Ji Gong in us there will be
and all days be Vesak for sure
When there is peace and joy from the heart

Let there be no outward show
that will disgust and rile our joy for life
and for one and all in life we know
Not of all days on Vesak Day.

Ji Gong will make the day
for Vesak Day and for all other days
No wonder God send us saints
to bring joy and peace to life for all
not just on Vesak but for all of days.
Every day is Vesak for the wise.
