What is doable for a temple or church? What can a temple do for its followers or congregation? Of course, in terms of worldly matters, a temple can do allot. It can provide social support, fellowship and even connect one member with another so that men can help one another and does not need to depend just on help from God and heaven - the saint or prophet. This was reiterated also by Lord Bo Tien.
Even if help from saint is needed, it is often help with regards to worldly matters such as wealth, a job and so on. But what is the spiritual back drop which is supposed to be the bigger picture? What is beyond what men more so ordinary men can have which they cannot have on their own?
This is where men expects immediate promise of Heaven. Men want heaven to be delivered on a platter. All will go to heaven and even get what they want on earth just by belief and by faith. If this is not the call of the temple or church, then men will frown and stay clear of the temple.
If this is the call, then it is good and many will flock to the temple. Is this doable? It seems to be judging by numbers, never mind if everyone can strike the lottery or everyone can get the best or choice job, never mind if the reality is that people more so faithful people can fall sick, can age and can die so long as there is hope and promise, so long as others in the crowd says you don't worry even if faced with problems.
Men want to live in dreams even while living in the reality of issues and problems. Religion must ever provide dreams and reassure that dreams will come true.
This is the religion men want and to them this is doable. Men wants dreams to be doable. Temples and churches are where men go there to dream together. Dreams are doable. This will always be the case for those at a temple or church.
Religion provides the magic touch where dreams which are dreams any way will no longer be dreams but reality somehow. Is this what a temple is all about - to pander to the dreams of men and tell them to just belief and they will have...?
With this backdrop, hardly anyone will buy the belief or reality that there is rebirth and that going to heaven is just another form of rebirth. Rebirth is no fun or not good because men will start life all over again. This will then shatter dreams about the awesomeness of going to heaven.
Thus the teachings of sages of Tao of ancient China or of Gotama Buddha or for that matter the sages of all land cannot just go to the truth direct, for truth though simple can be unacceptable. Then come saints among men who tell men not to worry but to believe and presto, all will be well.
Dreams are doable and good leaders will always want the men in their flocks to believe in dreams. It is difficult to impose reality on men. Men just want to dream. Dreams make the world go round. This is perhaps at least one reason why there are many temples, many religions or sects to pander to the need of men to dream on and on, to go on and on, never mind if there is rebirth or no rebirth.
They provide the dreams or stepping stones to more in life here and in life here after, be it in more cultivation of Tao, Middle Way or God Way. The way of dreams is the way to bring men to Heaven and beyond. This is the choice of men and heaven just have to go along and concede somehow. The likes of those in Heaven have to dream along with men. This is for real and not a joke.
Without dreams, there is no zest to push on in life - even if dreams remain as dreams at times. We cannot see too far. We cannot be divergent or we will be lost. We need to be convergent and to dream somehow but the dreams of men cannot be the same at any one point in life even for men in the same temple or sect of a religion.
Dreams are doable and the way to Heaven and beyond. Do think about this and if you agree, then choose your own dreams, and a lord saint to center on for your dreams.
For goodness sake, don't make mockery of life and religion by saying what some others believe are wrong. All are right in their own way but not right enough as yet. All inject hope and make life a good dream sometimes just too good to be true and worth it - every minute of it.

Do dream away in life and from life to life to be saints. If we do not love life correctly, we cannot be saint. With more dreams over a few lifetimes, we will learn how to dream better.
Loving death and rejection of life will cause bad dreams. At the other end, loving life, not letting go and having too much of the good things in life will only kill the joy and love of life. We end up in rat race - being rats or chasing rats instead. We end up throwing up, just ask the cat and he will tell you.
Having the right balance not too little and not too much but just right is the best not just for the moment but for the long haul. The issue is how to have more of such peace, not just for one moment but for more.
This is Tao to sages of old in China and Middle Way to sages in old India. Lord Bo Tien reminds us to balance the yin and the yang, the polarities or elements of life as depicted by his feet in his image. This is so we have more peace till we have endless peace.
Call this Nirvana or union with God or what have we matters not. A lotus by any name is just as sweet. The only way to this is to dream our own way to Heaven and beyond. Saints of religions create their sections of Heaven as dream lands for us to have better dreams and to have more peace.
But do not say that our heaven or dream is the only dream or heaven there is and insist that others must have the same dream as us. That would be not helpful at all for our brethren in life. Do not destroy and sabotage the dreams of our brethren in life. That would be unkind and one kind.
Do help them to improve in their own lives and dreams. Do not stereotype life and its spirituality for there are many roads to Heaven. There are also many levels and places of Heaven.
Even if on the same road, no two persons step on the same spots of the same road to Heaven and beyond. Learn to enable others in their own dreams and not disable their dreams by trying to impose our dreams on them - by trying to tell them to be every bit like us.
Enough said and the writer too should stop telling others what to do and what not to do. He is still dreaming, isn't he? Let us have our own dreams and dream our way to Heaven and beyond.

But some want them to dream they are dogs or like dogs. Cats will never be dogs though they can be like dogs in some ways. It is better for them to be better at being cats then dream of being dogs.
