The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

Worship of lightning and thunder in days of old

No 913 of Living Life Series 1

Whoever frowns at the ancient fear and worship of lightning and thunder must think again and have a second look. Isn't the worship of God in nature the same? If God is in us and in nature, the presence of God is admittedly manifested in all nature.

Nature can manifest itself and call our attention in many ways. We must give due respect to the ancestors who worship seemingly awesome symbols of nature such as lightning and thunder. We must give respect where respect is due.

By the standard of the day, our ancestors who worshiped nature like lightning and thunder were doing what was expected and logical in their days. In today's world and in future, we too should be respected for feeling the presence of God in us and around us in all of nature.

But what difference does it make in substance between us and our ancestors? Worship of God depends on the times. The worship of lightning and thunder as God is as relevant and in keeping with the times as our feeling in modern times of God's presence everywhere - omnipresence.

We need to be humble and admit that the worship of lightning and thunder is in all ways parallel to our worship of God and belief in his omnipresence in nature and the whole wide world. We need to be holistic and open in approach.

We need to cherish our ancestors for worshiping God in the way that was relevant to their times though in today's world, no one would worship lightning and thunder.

Whether worship of God takes the form of worship in a church or temple or in the form of worship of lightning and thunder in days of old is immaterial. It is still in basic the belief in God and his supremacy over life.

There is the same underlying basic or inner truth behind the religious outlook across the centuries from days of cave dwellers to the present days of civilized modern world. All religious styles and approaches are one in basic but are yet manifestly different.
There is the same basic or inner truth behind all religious styles and traditions. The good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 wants to open our eyes to this. There is oneness in religions or if you like in religious practices even across the wide divide or guff of time.
