THE PURPOSE IS TO SAVE SOULS. IT IS WAY BEYOND NORMAL GOOD WORK LIKE CHARITY AND WELFARE ACTIVITIES. NO ONE SHALL BE SAVED BY GOOD WORKS ALONE BUT BY MORE THAN GOOD WORK. THERE IS NEED TO BE IMBUED WITH THE BASIC DOCTRINE COMMON TO AND BEHIND ALL RELIGIONS AND SECTS. LIVE IN DOCTRINE. DOCTRINE IN LIFE IS PARAMOUNT.

The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

It is the same old story behind all religions

No 1089 of Living Life Series 1

The challenge for religion is for members of any religion to understand and grasp why the other religions are as useful and beneficial to society in their unique respective ways.

That would be open minded and all embracing - not myopic and exclusive.

Instead of thinking the world of their religion, they should explore and learn from how the basic teaching on goodness and God is put forth in other religions for the good and one of many. What and why there is the difference and yet the similarities.

This should enhance and augment the practice of their own religion. Then a religion becomes the base for growing the spirituality by learning from other religions.

In time, religions would close the perceived gaps between them. People of religions would then understand why they are more one than separate in God and in spirituality.

All boils down to meeting the immediate needs of the individuals and then bringing them to higher spirituality step by step and inch by inch. This is the same old story.

Religions think they are different but in reality practicing members of religions will realize that as they progress in practice, all religions are more one than separate. All may start off somewhat differently to meet different needs and context but all meet at some point to be one in God and in godly ways - the purification of the spirit and not just doing good and avoiding evil.

All must rise above doing things for one's own good. All must not have the sacrificing mentality either.

Harming oneself and denying life at the other extreme is no good even if it is for others' good.

There must be pure intent, pure thoughts and pure actions. There must be valuing of life - one's own and others' lives. There must be no indulgence in life nor neglect.

With fine tuning and balance, one perfect the art of having inner peace unaffected by the ups and downs around oneself and inside oneself. This is the same old story behind all religions which the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 wants all to waken to.

That way, we would be better in what we already are, be it in secular life or spiritual. We will be better in the religion we are in. We will be better in inner peace and be at peace with life.

The good lord wants all to seek out and grasp the inner truth behind life and religion. That is exactly what the prophets of religions set out centuries past to do. They did and that is why we have religions.

But as the river of life flows on, humanity is swept downstream. Of course, what do we expect. The water at the downstream is not as clear. For clear water, we need to go to the upper source.

We need to seek the basic or inner truth which is often too simple but yet not perceived by many. That is ironical. Isn't that revealing? Perhaps, it is the same old story behind religions. But the good lord finds it necessary to tell us the story again.

It is like the story of Christmas which need to be retold every year. Santa never fails and he will come round every year . He even comes down chimneys if the doors are close to him.

He is effecting the same old story of giving to all with no strings attached - no bargains. God and saints give even if we don't ask and not deserving. We too should be like that. Then there will be more love and more peace

There is no need to ramble on. It is the same old story of love of life - your life and our lives - and how we need to be pure at heart, pure in intent, pure in thoughts and pure in actions. That way we have peace, give peace and automatically receive peace.

Lest you forget

Do not make the mistake of idolizing any man who tells you about the Word. He is in the same boat as you even if religion refers to him as a religious leader. Mere mention of a religious leader is as good as encouraging idolising of that man. Why must there be hierarchy in religion? Hierarchy is conventional but may end up as liability rather than a necessity or asset. There should be no caste or hierarchy system in religion. No one is to be considered above another in religion. A religious leader or follower is a servant to serve you and not a leader to be idolised. Do not put him on the pedestal and make a monster out of him.

MAY ALL BE WELL AND HAPPY

May all be well and happy. May they have peace. May our departed friends and kins be well, happy and have divine peace. The main writer wishes the best for all for those near and far. Our kins may be far when they had passed on to better lives but they are near though far. He remembers and wishes his parents Mr Siow Soo Koh and Mdm Tay Hung Siang, his uncles and aunties like Mr Tay Koon Huay, his cousins like Mr Tay Chong Sim and his friends like Mr Philip Png well and have abundance of life. May they be rich in spirit for without such ancestors, there will be no posterity - no us and no you and me. They have blessed us and we must blessed them in return forever and ever.
