THE PURPOSE IS TO SAVE SOULS. IT IS WAY BEYOND NORMAL GOOD WORK LIKE CHARITY AND WELFARE ACTIVITIES. NO ONE SHALL BE SAVED BY GOOD WORKS ALONE BUT BY MORE THAN GOOD WORK. THERE IS NEED TO BE IMBUED WITH THE BASIC DOCTRINE COMMON TO AND BEHIND ALL RELIGIONS AND SECTS. LIVE IN DOCTRINE. DOCTRINE IN LIFE IS PARAMOUNT.

The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

Be wholesome and complete in life

No 1101 of Living Life Series 1

There is the Way or Tao 道. Tao 道 is before everything we know. To some it is a force or energy. To others it is common sense or logical thinking. Definitely whatever you understand by Tao 道, Tao 道 exists before all that were, are and will be.

It is important to take the simple approach so that more can appreciate, never mind if this is not the ultimate and complete Tao 道.

The good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 says that there is the same simple basic truth of the need for goodness and oneness of religions in God and heavenly saints.

This may be simple but yet many cannot see it unless presented in elaborated, decorated and popular forms to catch the eye. But when this happens people see the leaves, flowers and twigs but not the whole big tree.

That is why there are different religions to bring people to goodness and to God. But like it or not people go for the par and not the whole - the leaves and not the tree. Though the leaves are part of the tree, they are not the tree proper.

This is one way to put forth the message of the lord that people must see the whole oneness of religions and not their individual religions.

Religions are like different parts of the same tree. Religions enable more to know the tree from part of tree to the whole. That is why the good lord says that we believe in all heavenly saints and their teachings.

The whole world is the temple of life - the tree of life. God and heavenly saints are above - the roof of the temple. Religions are the pillars of the universal temple.

People must depend on all pillars and not think only of one. All pillars are indispensable to the universal temple.

All parts of the tree are useful to the tree. A tree may grow new parts and leaves. God and heavenly saints may enable more religions and sects.

Parts of the tree are still the tree but not the tree as a whole. Go for the tree and not parts of it.

Be wholesome and complete in life and in spirituality. It would be folly to go for only one part and deny the whole. All religions and sects are there to benefit you - not just the religion or sect you know.

The need to be wholesome and complete is in the culture of the East especially the Chinese. That is why Chinese can be in any house of God of any religion.

Only western educated among them refer themselves as belonging to a religion but in reality they all still believe in and respect all religions. What they practice is plurality as this is their culture. They are equally at home in any house of God. They practice their culture regardless of their professed religion or even if none.

They are still very much into Chinese culture even if they change their religion.

The dominance of culture in any society is such that Christmas has become part of Chinese culture without changing the character of Chinese culture. The Christmas tree is now part of being Chinese.

Incidentally and not by coincidence, people should admire the whole Christmas tree and not the parts. People must value the wholeness of God and saints and not the individual saints and the specific focused aspects of God in their religions.

They must know the reality from the added views. This can be the harder part. The added view make religions more different. The differences are more man made.

Chinese of religions without incense sticks will still carry incense sticks if they need to do so. They will sing hymns if they are in a church. They will do what is expected of them in any house of God and saints.

They will bring fruits to places of worship sometimes even wine for a function there. This is in their culture. Need more be said.

Ji Gong 济公 never goes without one where ever he goes.

In conclusion, let us be wholesome and complete. Go for the whole and not the parts. We are in globalized world. We must respect all religions and believe in all in whatever way we can.

Perhaps culture can enable the belief in all religions and promote the oneness of religions. Culture can bring together people of all religions. Culture too can promote oneness in diversity, be it of religions or whatever.

One day too the global culture will integrate all cultures. That will take time but no matter what individual subculture may still remain.

Lest you forget

Do not make the mistake of idolizing any man who tells you about the Word. He is in the same boat as you even if religion refers to him as a religious leader. Mere mention of a religious leader is as good as encouraging idolising of that man. Why must there be hierarchy in religion? Hierarchy is conventional but may end up as liability rather than a necessity or asset. There should be no caste or hierarchy system in religion. No one is to be considered above another in religion. A religious leader or follower is a servant to serve you and not a leader to be idolised. Do not put him on the pedestal and make a monster out of him.

MAY ALL BE WELL AND HAPPY

May all be well and happy. May they have peace. May our departed friends and kins be well, happy and have divine peace. The main writer wishes the best for all for those near and far. Our kins may be far when they had passed on to better lives but they are near though far. He remembers and wishes his parents Mr Siow Soo Koh and Mdm Tay Hung Siang, his uncles and aunties like Mr Tay Koon Huay, his cousins like Mr Tay Chong Sim and his friends like Mr Philip Png well and have abundance of life. May they be rich in spirit for without such ancestors, there will be no posterity - no us and no you and me. They have blessed us and we must blessed them in return forever and ever.
