The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

It is written in the looks - the nature of a man

No 886 of Living Life Series 1

The man one is born as is him but he is not the man he wants to be. He is the outcome of what he did in past lives and he evolves with time as he gets older.

What he is in physical bodily appearance and in aura of personality whether pleasing or not is the collective outcome of what and how he thought, acted and lived plus how he presently thinks, acts and lives.

One look at a man, the way he speaks and his body language will tell us what he was like over the years. A man's appearance, personality and behavior reveal much about him.

An individual is the outcome of his thoughts and his actions. No man can hide his past and his true self. It is written in his face, his physical appearance and in his demeanor.

We are what we were and we will be what we made ourselves to be. So if we want to be pleasant to others and attract others who are pleasant, we have to practice to be pleasant over many years and we will have a pleasant appearance, personality and demeanor. It will be written in our looks. Our looks will betray us.

A good looking man who is mean at heart will have facial expression and body language that betrays his meanness. It will be written in his appearance and demeanor. He may act kind but his actions and his looks will betray him somehow. He cannot pretend to be what he is not so at heart. He cannot put on a mask for long.

Those who have cultivate mindfulness and presence of mind will pick up from the looks the summary truth of the nature and type of men they encounter.

The lesson to learn is that if one has a beautiful internal self, one will grow pleasantness in appearance both physically and otherwise. Thus if we want to look good, we must grow the goodness and purity of what many refer to as the self in us.

But unfortunately though, if we cling on to this self and are greedily attached to self, we will be unpleasant to others. Our appearance physical and otherwise will betray us. Cultivate purity of mind and we will have saintly deportment that is pleasing and welcome by all.

Just look at portrait of Ji Gong 济公. His pleasantness shows through though he is unshaven, dirty looking and in torn robes of the wandering of a beggar.
"What matters is what goes through the heart
and not what goes through the gut
or what one does" Ji Gong
济公
Charisma and good looks and dressing is not enough. If there is impure heart, this will show through some how even with charisma and good looks. As this post or article is titled, it is written in the looks. Yes, indeed it is.

But the less mindful and cultivated may not be so perceptive. Cultivate purity of the heart like Ji Gong 济公 and goodness will surely come your way. "What matters is what goes through the heart and not what goes through the gut or what one does" or how one puts up an outward show or act.

If one thinks, acts and speak with kind and pure heart, one will radiate pleasantness and attract as well as even bring out the pleasantness in others. One who is pleasant will be surrounded by pleasantness.

He will be loving and be loved even by strangers gods and saints. He does not need to worship any saint. We may say with certainty that even saints adore him.

You can even say tongue in cheek that without doubt God and saints worship him. God and saints derive immense joy in knowing that such a man exists. He is godly to them. Such an individual will make their day.
