The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

Making sense with the senses.

No 884 of Living Life Series 1

Body works through five senses to please and make men go for more of the world. Mind works through the mind sense to hold on to mind objects. Spirituality needs more than both.

We need to go beyond the five sense doors and the mind sense door. If this you understand, then you are some way ahead.

It is not that we deny the six sense doors, but that we need to be mindful that they are necessary for us to be men but we must not go overboard and go ceaselessly for the pleasures they provide. Such pleasures are not meant to last and because they are like that, they hurt us in the end. But many just go for more of the same.

The six sense doors do allow us to be at peace with the body and mind if we know enough is enough and hold on to limits. They allow us to live in flesh. They are just means to the end but never the ends in themselves.

We need to know that true lasting peace needs more than that. Never will we be at lasting peace if we go for more and more through the six sense doors.

Popular religion is pivoted on the five sense doors. Music, song, chants and hysterics take center stage and we see nothing more beyond what we can have through the sense doors. Even meditation satiates through mind sense to hold on to the mind object of ecstasy.

Many think this ecstasy is the ultimate spiritual experience but this too creates clinging. The wise clings not even to mental ecstasy. So absorbed by pleasures of the six sense doors, men cannot reach the bliss beyond. They think nothing and experience nothing other than that the six sense organs allow.

They dig their eventual sorrows in the end for such pleasures are fleeting and mundane, and thus tormented men go for more and more only to suffer from wants and transiency. The pleasures of the five senses and the mind sense do not last and mislead.

When will men be mindful of this and wake up. When will men come to their senses and know the problems of over dependence on the senses. Some go the other way round and deny the senses. They live as though they want to die the body and mind. We need to live in body and mind but not be the victim and slave of the five sense doors and the mind sense door.

Do be awaken to know that there is bliss beyond the senses but deny not the senses for we still need to live in body till our last breath in this human life. This indeed is the teaching of the Buddha and all saints revered by the religions of men.

Popular religion that leverages on the senses is necessary for the start to bring in the crowd but the problem is that many get stuck at this level. They mistake the means as the end. Men of wisdom go beyond. They even keep the distance so as not to upset other men who still need the worldly ways of the senses. They know and understand all must go through spirituality that way.

All religions are in essence man made to honor God, the respective sages and saints. They present spirituality to their followers in two ways - popular religion and ultimate spirituality beyond the six sense doors (five senses and the mind sense that takes on mind objects).

Popular religion is based on the sense doors. Ultimate spirituality is beyond. This is common to all and is referred to by Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 as the common truth behind all. Popular religion varies from religion to religion, sect to sect, school to school and temple to temple.
武天菩萨
Lord Bo Tien
The need to stress the oneness of truth behind all is the very purpose of his descent in 1969. His mission on behalf of Divinity is to show this oneness behind all - oneness behind diversity. There is the same truth behind the differing popular religions of the day.
