No 342 of Living Life Series 1
Man has animal nature and tends to want to manipulate and control others, as like in a pack of wolves. This is clearly the case in many an organisation, temple or church. If men can live and let live, they would be saints and out of this world.
Even God does not control and allows freewill. He opens multitude of ways through saints. Only the ignorance of men portray God to be like man --- to have wrath and to be a control freak. He is Om and omnipresent with his benevolence, being the zenith of love and compassion. How can there be wrath and why must God exert control and fear --- effectively making puppets out of men? He rather we know what he expects us to do and leave it to us to learn and grow based on free will and goodwill.
In early years, a prophet or saint of God will coerce and use the stick as disciples were new but once they know all that were told, they need to practise what were taught and to live and roam life in any way they will. They need to learn and grow on their own. There will be no stick for wrong but cheers and blessings for right by God and saints above. All will reap what they sow and all will eventually learn and grow in God and his saints consciously or otherwise
There is no place for divine control through any saint or prophet once the religion or sect is established and the teachings promulgated and disseminated
This too is the way of the messenger of God - Lord Bo Tien. He too emphasized on the complementary roles of religions and sects There is the need for not one but many religions and sects to reach out to the many and out of compassion to the world so that more may know God and be one with Divinity. There is need to allow men to be free to think and to be even free thinkers, even to be atheists. For they too can live and grow in God-like ways without knowing God
Often, it is not God and saints who want to pit one religion or sect against another but it is men who see the need for control because of the animal nature of men. The divine nature will not embrace any place for control and manipulation that encroaches on ill-placed narrow mindedness, intolerance and ill will.

The need for control is the weakness of man and not God and saints. Man has animal nature and tends to want to manipulate and control others. This is clearly the case in many a temple or church as well. If men can live and let live, they would be saints and out of this world.
The need for control of others more so in matters on religion is not the way of God and saints. This applies not only to men but to beyond men. God does not see the need to control even the Devil for the Devil is also one of his own, albeit a fallen angel. Even the Devil will come to see the light but there will always be others to take over his place as the Devil. Isn't this a refreshing perspective? Also, the devil is not in the Devil but is inherent in the weakness or crude base nature of every a man or being.
God and saints have no need for control of others. Men have difficulty in following this divine way but for sure, men can do so in their own human ways but at least try to be a wee bit like God and saints by being more humane. Humans after all are like God but only if they are more humane. Man can take on the image of God by being more human and humane.
One day they will be closer to God and his ways when they are that divinely humane and no longer see the need to control others and learn to let go, guide and help those who help themselves and let many have the choice of options in life. This is so even if they do not see eye to eye. There is no need to control and use the hammer to enforce their understanding and ways on others.
Isn't this familiar with what modern society refer to as democracy but even for democracy there must be out of bound markers to serve as guidance. Control beyond guidance will kill life, initiative and growth of the spirit.
This does ring a bell in what Lord Bo Tien said. The principles of life that work for spiritual growth if applied to worldly life will also work for mundane life but perhaps not the reverse.
Shouldn't we agree, my dear friends? We have a choice not to do so. A saint sees no need to control but only to guide. How we live, we have to decide and we must and will.
God and saints help those who help themselves or rather God and saints bless those who bless themselves. But God and saints do not damn those who do not do right for themselves. They are always ready to guide but the choice is still left to men to decide how to live and grow.
The need for control is not the way of God and saints. Only wayward bigoted devout men in the name of religion, temple, God or saints will do so. Non-compliance is perhaps tantamount to blasphemy by some bigoted men but not by God and saints for they are divine and beyond human failings. Do not however consider this as the fault of religion, temple, God or saints. You cannot blame the flower if ants and insects come to it. This insight is what Lord Bo Tien wants us to know.
