No 991 of Living Life Series 1
There is beauty in diversity. What one person holds as beauty, another may not do so. Otherwise, there won't be marriages and there won't be genetic diversity which is necessary for the salvation and health of the species - here we are referring to humanity.
But please know that we must not end up saying others are not beautiful. Only the one we like is. That would be not right and over stepping propriety and the out of bound markers. We will end up finding life no longer beautiful.
If we want a blessed and fulfilling life, by all means go for what suit us best. But remember beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. This applies to almost any thing or issue in life.
Religion is certainly no exception. God and saints did not and do not create religions. Men did and will continue to do so.
Genetic diversity is necessary for life. Religious diversity too is necessary to capture and hold on to more so that they can keep their focus in life - the meaning of life.
Is there the higher calling other than the worldly or lower calling? Why is it that after sometime, the lower calling does not hold water and sustain our zest for life?
Thus we have religions and not just religions, we have many sects and in any sect, there will be many schools and in any school, there will be many temples. Somehow, we will end up in diversity and it seems that the inevitable need for variance and divergence is at play. Also the fittest survive.
The religious practices that give zest to life will promote life and cohesion for more life. Those that are weak and not in step to promote life and further the species of humanity will fade away.
This is true in religion and for any religion, it holds true for the sects within religion. Is genetic sort of variance at play where the religious practices of men are concerned? In a way, it is.
But for those who want to be better and be more ideal, they must go the mile and upgrade themselves to be beyond man - to be saint. This will not exactly be for furthering the species of man but for furthering men to beyond man - to upgrade man to be saint.
Religions are there to bring men to the river of spirituality. They start with the downstream and just flow along with the crowd. The few who are stronger and want to go beyond just being men must cultivate and promote the religious genes to want to be different and to want to go upstream against the current to the upper source for pure water. Then they will have peace and be saint.

All religions bring men to the river of life but what makes saints out of men is the insight for the inner truth common to and behind religions - the truth of goodness and purity of life which is the clear water at the upper stream. But for now and for the many popular religions are good enough. This is the message of the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨.
All religions are one in goodness and purity. All will tend towards this either consciously or subconsciously. Religious diversity and variance promote this and for the few, they go beyond just being religious men. They become more than man. They taste the clear water of sainthood and evolve to be with God and saints.
For the many, they are content with the water of the downstream of the river of life. They are happy with just being men and group religiosity. This of course is the first step for most of us if we want to be better than good to be saints one day. Meanwhile good is simply put good enough though this may be far from good.
Even in religions of men, to just pray and be blessed is good enough for many. The devotees of Tu Di Gong 土地公 Earth God is just like that. God and heavenly saints are simply to high up and remote to their mind.
Earth God is too good for them and good enough for them. Likewise people have better affinity with the simplicity of popular religious practices. Just believe and all will be well here and here after.
Good is simply good enough for the many though far from really good. Religions must cater for the many. The few who are wiser can take care of themselves with at most a little more help by God and saints to make the difference. They go for sainthood and not just being good.
