The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

Focus on truth and not God, saint or Bo Tien 武天

No 1367 of Living Life Series 1

Bo Tien 武天 says that in time to come people will forget him and think he does not exist. That does not matter.

What matters is that we know what he stands for and not what great feats he can do to demonstrate his saintly or godly majesty.

To him, what matters is that we know how to be better at being good, not only in the religion we are in but also in life.

Obviously, we will be better Buddhists if we are Buddhists, and we will adore the Buddha and take refuge in the Triple Gem of the Buddha, the Dhamma (the truth of life) and the Sangha (the holy order of monks). We will be better in the truth - the Dhamma which is the pivot of the Triple Gem. The Buddha and Sangha will be meaningless if there is no Dhamma.

If we know truth, we will be better in the goodness of whatever religion we are in - more pure and clear - not flow downstream with polluted water.

The truth of life is in the world and in all religions. All we need is to go upstream against the current to reach upper source for clear water. This is what Bo Tien 武天 wants all to know and certainly not who he is and what he looks like.

It is not at all an issue not to focus on Bo Tien 武天 but instead on the goodness he wants us to be better in - in whatever religion we are in. Not focusing on God or saint is not an issue at all but not the case if we do not focus on the truth.

Yes, to be blunt, this may sound blasphemous. Forget God or saint but not the truth. Forget the truth and just focus on God or saint is however an issue to contend with.

That is why many say God is the Word and the Word is God. See the Word in God and saint. Know the Word and we know God and saint.

See God or saint but blind to the Word is not what should be. We will never know God or saint that way even if God or saint is in front of us. We will be far from God and saint even if God or saint is beside us.

If we know the truth and live in the Word, we will be surrounded by God and saints.

That is why Bo Tien 武天 says the near can be far and the far near. Thus those who are not Buddhists but belong to another religion may be near to Buddha if they are in tune to his teachings and practise being good and pure.

In life, we must focus on the good in us and in others - more so our good values and their good values. We must not focus on the bad in us and in others.

By focusing on the good, we bring out more good in us and in others. We must focus on the good of culture and religion and bring out more of the good in culture and in religion.

We must not focus on personality and end up bringing out the worst - personality cults. We must focus on the good in persons and nurture and bring forth more good.

Zen followers do not focus on Buddha but on goodness. That is why some even satirically say there is need to "kill the Buddha" thought and the idolising of the Buddha or God or saints. Will that spell the end of the road for religion? On the contrary, that will invigorate and expand religiosity.
