The horizon is always within sight but once we reach what is in sight, there will be a new horizon. Human life is like that. There will ever be the horizon in life. It is because the world is round and a revolving globe.
We need to have vision and a horizon but we should not be affected by the humps and holes in life. The sages of old in China refer to this as the world of yin and yang.
The same applies to a temple and every temple or every generation needs to have a horizon in sight but the horizon of one generation or temple differs from that of another. If this is so, be it in life or for a temple or religion, is there any need at all to squabble and argue till kingdom come, this is the way and that is not?
Which group, temple or religion is right is immaterial. What matters is that each is moving and has a vision. Everyone must set sight on the horizon, never mind if horizon differs and for the same group or individual, the horizon keep on changing. There will always be a new horizon in the changing landscape of life.
The diversity is real in life and yet there is no denying that there is that inexplicable reality of oneness in diversity. This is surmised as the Inner Truth Doctrine or Four Pillar Doctrine by Lord Bo Tien.
The whole world is the universal temple or house of God. The sky or heaven is the roof. The religions and sects in the four cardinal directions are the pillars. All under Heaven are in the house of God.
There is God and Heaven. There are the saints and the religions and sects of men. A saint decides how to bring men together in a sect or religion so that they can have the vision of life and a horizon to gaze at. No two sects or two religions are same but they originate from and are there because of God and saints.
The beliefs and vision may differ like the changing landscapes of life. The horizon men have need not be the same but there always will be the horizon. This is how saints bring men to God through seemingly different religions and sects.
Religions and sects become the platform or springboard for men who want to seriously cultivate the way to purity to be with God. The way is to stay atop and balance the ups and downs in life with spiritual conviction and vigor despite the rigors of life.
This is how men and beings will not be lost in the revolving world of ups and downs. The sages of old in China refer to the way as Tao which is depicted in the image of Lord Bo Tien with feet atop the elements. Tao is in the image. The image is Tao.

If they want to run a temple like old clan association or community centers, that is their calling and they have to know what they are doing. This is a fate of many temples of religions.
But for the mission led by Lord Bo Tien, the universal temple perhaps through the world wide web remains. All this is because, Heaven is ready and cannot wait.
Men are not ready and want to sidetrack or stick to the old ways which are really non-contemporary - what the modern generation people consider as unpalatable, unsightly, old and obsolete.
Men at the helm of a temple will stick to their ways. They are in the ivory tower of their own and refused to change the landscape for their horizon.
