No 1170 of Living Life Series 1
The truth is that we can be with God and saints anywhere in this world. God or any saint is just one thought away.
But fellow men are at best one phone call or whatsapp away and to be with men we need to be attending gatherings with them. We need to attend a temple or church service.
But a house of God is more for being with God and saints. Many have that in mind but end up being with fellow men in the name of God and saints. Isn't that hypocritical and somewhat wanting?
But with humanity, it is always like that. There may always be the higher calling or agendum but always another lower agendum hold sway and takes the fore to fire us up.
Humanity has no qualms about this. This is in the nature of Man. Man often falls short of purity of thoughts, speech and actions.
If we are critical, we say they are hypocritical. If we are empathic, we say they are in need of help and it is alright for now for them to be like that.
The good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 has empathy for humanity. The problems of men are many and plentiful. Even in doing good, they always ensure that it is for their own good more than for those in need.
All men start off like that and progress in purity of good for goodness sake and not for own good and to win accolades is wanting. They start off having goodness for themselves - initially goodness of the world here and now and later spiritual goodness.
Even for spiritual goodness, this takes a backseat and worldly goodness is all that matters to them at heart. What men speak and do are not in line with what is in the heart.
Ji Gong 济公 has a pertinent wake-up call for all. What matters is not what one does or what goes through the gut but what is in the heart and goes through the heart.
But even with this pointblank advice, many in trying to be like Ji Gong end up worse off. They bedevil themselves when trying to be like Ji Gong 济公. They end up eating meat and drinking wine recklessly. They give themselves the excuse.
Wine and meat through the intestines pass,
[while] Lord Buddha within my heart remains,
[but] common people, if they imitate me,
is similar to entering the path of demons.
– Chan Master Daoji (Jigong 济公)
They are not ready. Better for them to be what they are even though they cannot be better. Sometimes it may be like casting pearls to swine. Of what use are pearls to swine? So don't try to be messiah and do good for those who are not ready to be more good.
It is better to let matters be and for people to make good on their own at their own space and tine. Don't rush them and make matters worse.
In matters of spirituality, it is often the case. Leave spirituality of man to man himself and let God and saints work on them. Thus the mission of the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 to make beings better at who they are and in the religion they are in is not by men but by Heaven.
Perhaps we should not be busybody when we ourselves are not much better. Perhaps we are in the same boat but just a wee bit better off.
Don't try to be a saint when we far from being saint. We may be nearer to God than many but we are still far from God. The good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 reminds us that the near may still be far.
