Many like children ask for the strawberry taste, never mind the medicine that is in the syrup. The sugar coating can come in different forms and taste. Thus many argue till kingdom come which is the better religion - which is the better taste.
Popular religions pander to the taste of mankind. They want the sugar and not the pill of truth. Truth is often bitter and hard to stomach. We may even have avulsion to it.
