Is a person less a member of his nationality just because of his religion being different from that of another? Is the same person more of being of a foreign nationality just because he takes up a religion introduced by another from a foreign nationality?
Won't a person be still a member of his nationality even he embrace a the favored religion of a foreign nationality? If it is so, then without doubt, he is very different from the foreigner who inducted him into the religion.
He will find ways for the new religion to him to be an expression of his nationality. Though both professed the same religion, the cultural approach makes them appear as different.
They are of the same religion and near to each other but yet far from each other due to cultural expression of the same religion.
The good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 often quoted saying that near can be far and far can be near comes in again for us to reflect. He even added that it may be better for one to be better in the religion one is borned into by learning from his teachings that the same basic truth is behind all religions.
It is far better for one to be better in the religion one is in than be awkward in a newly adopted religion as he will be heavily colored by the culture he grew up in.
Give this some thought. Be better has nothing to do with change of labels. Be better at what we are and not try to be what we are not.
