No 1177 of Living Life Series 1
Whatever we do in the name of religion, society or country had better be for the good of the many and for the good also of those who are not with us.
If we do good only if others are with us, isn't that indicative that we are not willing to do good if others are now with us and not good with us.
This should not be happening in religion but it is happening.
Of how much good or rather of any good is good if we only do good for those who are good to us.
If people expect religion to be like that, then what will become of religion?
They may be near in name to God and saints but aren't they doing a great disservice to God and saints. They project the impression that God and saints will not be good to those who are not good with them. We must be good to them before they can be good to us. Is this what religion all about?
Alas, what the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 says is true. The near may be far and the far near.
Who are the far but yet near? Really, they are few who are good to everyone even those not good with them but who stay clear or far from religion.
They rather be not polluted. They stay at the upper source of the river where there is clear water rather than be flowing downstream with the polluted water.
The good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 says that in any religion, for clear water steer clear of the popular downstream, the popular religion and be on our own at the upper source.
Is this what he said? Well, he did say that we can be with the crowd, with society but be atop and above the ups and downs, the yin and yang of society.
The good lord says that renunciation is to be pure at heart and in spirit and nothing to do with running away from life but to be with life and society. We can be in society and religion. We may be with and near to the less spiritual majority but yet far from being less spiritual.
He adds that by living in doctrine we can be the beacon for others to follow. We are light candle lights he said and a collection of candle lights works better. This too he says. This applies to any religion, nation or society.
Surely, candle lights or beacons cannot choose who to light up for. The light they cast must be for all - not just those who appreciate but those who don't appreciate. Good must be for all and not just for those who are good with us or appreciate us.
The values that hold true with spiritual applies equally well with mundane life. This too did the good lord reminds us regardless of our nationality, creed, color or religion.
