No 1172 of Living Life Series 1
There is one thing about life we must know. We think it can be perfect. It never will be. Life is never substantial. We have more and yet want more. We feel empty.
If life is substantial, there is no need for God and saints. Men in turning to God and saints are better able to accept the insubstantiality of life.
Is this for real or is this just an attempt to deceive men into false sense that all is well?
Men promise that all will be well by being with God but in the end they have to face the insubstantiality of life when the end is inevitable.
Everything ends with nothing. But life is like that.
We will have to live. We have to live with realising that everything will come to nought. In that sense then nothing is everything.
If we can live with nothing, we have everything. If we want everything we end up with nothing. Go for more and all and we have less instead and perhaps nothing.
If we go for less or nothing, we seem to have more than enough. We seem to have everything. It is all in the mind.
The far from everything may be near to everything. The near to everything will end up far from everything he wants. He will end up as though he has nothing.
The good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 will just say that near is far and far is near. This simple statement means everything we need to know in life and in religion. It covers all aspects of religion.
When we seem to know nothing, we actually know everything. When we think we know everything, we actually know little - perhaps even close to nothing.
Alas the wise may be the fool and the fool may be the wise.
Ji Gong 济公 was regarded as the jovial fool and crazy and a nobody but he ended up as somebody and wise. How is this so?
Well, what matters is the purity of the heart - never mind if the heart is empty of what others crave for in life.
When there is too much at heart, there is heaviness of the heart. The heart is void of peace even though it is full and jammed pack with wants.
When there is no wants, the heart is light. There is peace with a light heart - ever jovial. This is true substantial peace.
Have more peace by having a light heart. No peace with heavy heart. A light heart is more substantial for peace.
Ji Gong 济公 never minces his words. What matters is not what one knows of religion, what one does or what one eats or drinks, it is what is in the heart.
Is the heart empty of peace weighed down by wants and more wants? Is it not better to empty the hearts from wants and be light at heart. A light heart is more substantial for peace in life.
