No 1166 of Living Life Series 1
Man cannot get more of what he wants in the world. Man turns to religion to get what he wants. What would he want out of religion which he could not have enough in the world outside religion?
Basically he would not admit it that it is the same thing. He wants what he cannot get enough in the world outside religion by turning to religion.
This seems reasonable to many. Why not? We need a family life. We turn to religion. We need to pass examinations. We turn to religion. We need friends to like us. We turn to religion. We need more money. We turn to religion. We need better health. We turn to religion.
All these are realities but if we are to step out and look on from the outside and from afar, aren't we odd? We have issues. We need to help ourselves. We are overwhelmed. We turn to God and saints. God and saints listen and issues seem less and somehow we seem to be able to overcome. We are less anxious. We seem to be able to make it.
Then as what happens in the outside world, we want more. Soon, we don't seem to get the same results and satisfaction from religion. Then we wonder why we could not have as others could even have more so easily and without problems.
Surely heaven can help us. We ask much more and expect much more from heaven. Soon we wonder why God and saints seem to leave us alone - not as responsive as before.
Then comes the man at the pulpit. He stirs us up. He says that we give more to God and that is better. Don't think about receiving. But in the same breath, he says if we prosper God, we will prosper ourselves.
This is how the prosperity gospel comes about. It stirs and fans up the greed of men - the wants of men. Isn't this adding fuel to fan wants and desires?
Isn't this making men far though near to God and saints. The near may be far. This did the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 comment with regards to men, religions and spirituality.
Need more be said that this happens to all men somehow or other though by different degrees and in different ways. Man must learn the hard way.
The gospel advice in the texts of religions often fall on deaf ears. Man will still turn to religion like insects to the flower for nectar.
Didn't the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 say this too? But it makes no impact for many until they are at the deep end and lost even in the house of God. All because they want nectar.
They want spirituality but yet they go for more worldliness in religion. The worldliness they could not get enough out there, they want it more in religion. They go for more of worldliness in religion and they think this is what religion is for.
Many think religion is for more of worldliness which they cannot have enough outside religion. Men must think hard what religion is for.
