The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

Go beyond what appeals in popular religion

No 850 of Living Life Series 1

True spirituality is beyond what is popular religion and popular religion is far from core spirituality.

Popular religion has to do with what appeals to the masses. Popular religion has to do with those who have yet to be immersed in deep spirituality and who are starting out in religion.

Popular religion has to offer to the masses the likes of what the masses are attracted to in the secular world. It has to do with what attracts.
This may not be sensually attractive and is not intended as such
Popular religion has to do with what appeals and to what increases their desires. Core or true spirituality is not appealing to desires. It does not exude or bring out the appeal that attracts humanity in the secular world.

Go for beyond what appeals in popular religion and see through the need to do so. Go for the substance of spirituality and not the attractions of popular religion.

The beautiful cover of a book attracts a reader but the true value is obtained only when the reader is able to read it and assimilate the substance in the book.

A book of scriptures is attractive only if in hard cover preferably of leather. But the man of spirituality goes for what is between the covers and how the teachings come to life in the day to day life of the reader. But a leather cover attracts the eye. The touch or feel of sheer luxurious leather is awesome to the hands and even the smell of good leather makes it nasally attractive.

We need popular religion. We must make religion more and more popular. But we must go beyond popular religion to true core spirituality.

The good lord Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨) refers to core spirituality as the inner truth that is to all intents and purposes the same across religions though presented as somewhat very uniquely different - in different languages and cultures. This too is to attract the relevant people of the differing cultures, so as to reach out to the world and save more souls.

There is the need to be something attractive and sensual to capture the attention and the senses before a man can go for a religion. He must be attracted physically and sensually to the building and ambiance that is the place of worship.
Then in the chambers of the holy place of worship, the services conducted must be as attractive if not more attractive than in a secular classical or pop concert with the monk or pastor as charismatic and awesome as a popular singer or master of ceremony.

We need religion to be popular. We need popular religion. But we need to go beyond what appeals in popular religion. We need to arrive at true or core spirituality which is the inner truth that brings peace in life amid the ups and downs - the peace that one day will make us whole and be with God and saints.

We should not cling to the ultimate peace that is yet to come but be content or rather be at peace with whatever moment of peace we can have for the present. This is what true or core spirituality is about.
