No 1218 of Living Life Series 1
Some like it hot. Some like it cold. Life like coffee is like that.
Don't be cold to life and say that everything is a waste of time if we live only to die. Then why live?
Don't be hot to life and want everything cramming as much as we can into whatever time we have. That may seem to be super management of time but will take its toll. We will be worn out and ask what next and why we are like that.
However we try to make out life to be, life will never seem to be made for us. Isn't that perplexing?
But who cares? Just let life be. Just find some excitement and make life hot.
That is why many gamble. Some just lose money but a few end up having heart attacks.
Some get tangled up with relationship problems when they do things on the sly just to get more excitement. Is excitement what life is all about?
Some turn to religion to find peace but in the process they end up going for excitement as well. Some can meditate well but they end up going for mental absorption - the ecstasies of one pointedness of mind. This can be more thrilling than worldly pursuits.
The reason they fail is because though they succeed and do well in meditation, they are not insightful. They go for mental thrills and attachment to the mind sense.
Some are simply head over heels passionate about their religion and try to oversell to others, often ending up stepping on other's toes This can be thrilling but often brings no peace. They become addicted and addiction means pain when there is withdrawal. Religion is not meant to cause this.
In life, we must live life like anyone else. We are still human and every inch human. We too must be religious in some way like many. But do not be carried away by life or by religion.
We must have inner peace. Letting go of life and running away is denying life. We end up lost and not at peace. Going for life for more excitement brings no peace either but are only good while it lasts. Both are no good.
But the wise one guards his inner peace and stays atop and balance the vissicitudes of life or some put it the trials and tribulations of life. We must not play around with life. Even if life is experiential, let us not experiment with life.
There is the inner peace that we should have. This is what the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 wants us to achieve through whatever religion we may be in.
