The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

Common sense in spiritual is a must

No 1022 of Living Life Series 1

The issue of life after death is always a topic of interest but if we ask the likes of Buddha, what is more important is how we are here and now, how we will be tomorrow, what can we learn from our past, how we understand life as we know it and how ready we are for tomorrow.

In short, we must make sense out of the life we are in. Often what we need is just common sense or logic that we often ignore or put aside and go for the intrigues of mystery. Instead of being focused and convergent on our inner being and find the peace that we should have to begin with, we end up divergent and diffuse - lost in the wild imagination of from where we came and to where we will go.

Having said that, let us do exactly what we should not do - just to drive home the point of how we can be more lost in divergent thinking on life beyond this life we have. Curiosity they say kills the cat. But let us be just that and then we will know why should not be like that. Why we should not purr...

The simple approach is that after death, we go to heaven or hell. There is only one hell and there is only one heaven. There is eternity of life in heaven or hell.

Just believe or do good and be there in heaven hereafter. Don't believe or don't do good and be there in hell. In fact, they say one or two bad deeds are all that are needed and sure enough, we will be in hell.

This is nowadays (2015) not logical even on earth though in days of ancient world, this was logical. Just one deed that displeased the emperor of the land, he would execute you and your kin. This was based on the then time honored view in old China of "As on Earth, so also in Heaven."

Well, times have changed and we are not like that now unless we want to go to the ancient past and be cruel. God and saints are divine and loving. They love also those who have done wrong.

The other belief systems or rather rife talk of life beyond this life is that there is rebirth time and again. So, of course, then there will be no eternity of hell or heaven. We will be just there for sometime either as reward, respite up there or as receiving our just desert down below.

There will of course be talk of many levels of hell and many heavens. But beings are not there forever and they have to leave the places one day.

Then one variation says that there is purgatory* where some go to after death to sort of live in limbo world before hopefully going to heaven. They do not have enough credits to go heaven. They have unfinished business to sort out so to speak. They have hang-ups they must come to terms with and if they can make it, they will either go up but if not, they have to come down to be born as man again.

Thus we are likely to think that this purgatory is also where we are as human beings - sort of side by side. If we chance upon them, some of us will think they are out to harm us. We think they are demons and we must get priests to cast out the demons from our lives. Isn't that cruel as they may be killed in process - die again after dying as humans? Isn't killing or hurting bad?

Well, you tell us what and where is the line to be drawn between good and bad. Then another view says, why not wish them well if you chance upon them or if they become your unwelcome visitors.

Just do say, "May you be well and happy. From where you come, to where you go. God and saints bless you"  This is in fact transfer of merits.

We wish them well. We give then merits of our past and present good. We don't lose merits. As giving is usually good unless what we give is bad, we end up receiving double the merits we give.

But many will say this will not help those spirits. They must await the grace of God and saints. If it is so simple to wish them well or to persuade them to be saved by grace and not by good works, then there will be no one in hell and purgatory?

But then some will argue that spirits sometimes suffer in hell or purgatory and due to the weight of their past bad done, they cannot benefit or even receive the merits till after they have lived out their time down there in hell or in purgatory. Of course, then isn't this a contradiction or double talking?

So now dear friends, isn't it wise to deal with this life, more so the here and now and to be at peace with our past, the now and the tomorrow in this present life. Do have the peace and don't rock the boat. Don't do anything or think wildly and end up more in pieces than at peace.

The need to be at peace is taught by and central to all religions and cultures. It is basic logic or common sense - Tao . It is in all religions and cultures.

But in trying to be better and smart, many end up lost as they are no longer logical - no longer go for common sense. They have lost their common sense - logic

The good lord Lord Bo Tien's 武天菩萨 mission on behalf of God and saints is to reawaken the common sense of all people in whatever religion they may be in or even if they have none.

* Purgatory, according to Catholic Church doctrine, is an intermediate state after physical death in which those destined for heaven "undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven". - Wikipedia extract. Of course, in other cultures, it is an interim place before definitive placement after death
