No 1048 of Living Life Series 1
In religion, there will be differences of approach even within a specific religion. To differ is only natural. To agree too is natural.
But men who speak different views of the teachings of the saint in their religion may end up more popular and be regarded by the fundamentalists as misinterpreting the teachings and be labelled as the anti-saint of the saint in that religion.
The wonderful part is that often this is popular and attracts the crowd. The classical interpretation and views may be not popular. The classical views are perhaps more relevant to the times past.
In any case, differences show that there is doubts and in trying to overcome doubts, new views and emphasis of the teachings are delivered. If this catches the fancy, then it will catch on with the crowd. But who is more right is a different matter.
Doubts will always exist and that is how we learn. We are constantly learning because of doubts.
To the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨, it is good to have doubts. In a temple of the lord, those who doubt the standard views should still be family. One day, they will learn and that will be good for all.
But don't forget that perhaps they are right and the mainstream may be the ones to learn. So don't go round labeling others as the devil masquerading as the saint or doing services in the name of the saint to be the anti-saint.
Don't think that they will bring down the good name of the saint and defile his teachings. That will be too far fetched. Don't end up like the blind men and the elephant shouting one another down on what is the elephant like.
The anti-saint complex shows the weakness of men of faith in a saint - the fear of losing control. Men must not stop thinking and only then will they learn and improve. Men must find out more and learn from all angles. We are constantly learning and perhaps unlearning at the same time.
