No 686 of Living Life Series 1
Below is a piece of conversation sent to writer by a friend:
(1) John said to his wife Jane, "Honey, do you wanna go to the gym with me? "
Jane retorted, "Why? Do you think I'm fat?"
(2) John then responded thus, "No. I didn't mean to... OK never mind, you don't have to go."
Jane was offended, "Why? Do you think I'm lazy ?"
(3) Exasperated, John said, "O God, help me!" Then in calmer note, he said, "No. Just calm down..."
But she interjected, "Why? Do you think I'm crazy? "
(4) Feeling cornered, John exclaimed. "No... that's not what I meant to say!!"
Still uneasy, and ever the more hurt, Jane said, "So now I'm a liar?!!"
Well, it never will end if this goes on like that...
It never ends if there is no inner peace to begin with... That is why we need to pay heed to the need for inner peace in life come what may. Didn't the good lord Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨) said so since his descent in 1969?
This inner peace comes from confidence and faith in God and saints and from the doctrine of divine peace amid the ups and downs of life. Chinese call this Tao or Way - the staying atop of life.
We need to have inner peace to begin with. Inner peace is the starting and the end point. It must also be in the process. In time, we will be better at it and be like God and saints.
It is so nice and pleasant to have inner peace. It is even nicer to meet someone with inner peace even if he is a stranger, more so if you learn that it is his religious faith that makes him like that.
He is manifestly peaceful and pleasant, not at all imposing and ever accommodating even in disagreement or when there are differences of approach or views.
It matters not if he is of different religion or sect. There is that pureness around him that is unmistakable at that point in time and it can be infectious. Others will want to follow and be like him. We must encourage him to be more and ever like that - a picture of inner peace.
