The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

Be in control for more inner peace

No 687 of Living Life Series 1

There is always the mention of inner peace in every religion but we must realise that this can be at various levels.

The entry point is often inner peace based on the shelter of heavenly saint. This means we depend on a heavenly saint in life and that life will be smoother and flow on more easily when we seek refuge in a heavenly saint.

But this may be easy way out and many will just stay at this level and when things don't happen as expected, they as believers of their saint just think that this is God's will and that they must accept their lot or fate.

The flip side is that they are not in control of life and they think that they have handed control of life to God and saint. The approach of such men to inner peace is not deep enough.

They think that inner peace is secured by letting go and not be in control of life. But they would argue that they are letting God to be in control of life by handling control to God and saint.

If this is so, then how would they reconcile with the proverb that God helps those who helps themselves. We must still be in control even if we have the shelter of God and saints.

Letting go is not giving up and allowing ourselves to be swept downstream by the current of life as life unfurls. Letting go in a way is to have less wants and to go for those that are necessary.

But even then, we try to get what we want but are not less peaceful if we have difficulty in getting them. We must start off with inner peace to begin with and by so doing, we are better at handling life and more likely to get what we want.

We will also be more down to earth and realistic in our demands in life. We do not go for the sky. We are content with half a loaf if we cannot have the whole loaf of bread. Half a loaf is surely better than none.

This approach to inner peace is a more holistic approach and is beyond the entry level of most people of any religion. It is present in all religions but men in trying to oversell their own religion may just peddle the notion that just belief in a savior and inner peace is yours. Just let go and that is it. This is just simply too superficial an approach.

Surely, men must not just let go but be in control if they want better and more pervasive holistic and wholesome inner peace. We must be in control of our expectations and of life. Be ever in control for more inner peace.

The Dalai Lama adds, "Inner peace is the key. If you have inner peace, the external problems do not affect your deep sense of peace and tranquility." A saint may be idolized as a savior and hailed as the embodiment of the way, truth and light but we still have to be in control for more inner peace. But we can start off with some inner peace through God and saint but let not the means become the ends.
