No 1379 of Living Life Series 1
Who can we blame on if we don't get what we want? Who can we turn to if we want to get what we want? The last thing most of us would do is to push the blame to ourselves. We tend not to work for what we want and not to depend on more of ourselves to do so.
We end up turning to God and saints if our family and friends cannot give us what we want. When our prayers seem to fall on deaf ears, we change the church we go to, and if this still doesn't work, we change religion.
This is a problem in the life we are in. We never look inwards at ourselves. We often never look into the world within us - our mind, our habits and how we think.
We see the problem as in the world around us and not in the world within us. It is often the world or others is at fault or to be blamed. We grumbled and end up hating life and the world around us.
We always think we are never wrong. We think the world of ourselves. We always think we are right. The fault and solution lie in the others around us - our parents, our friends and our bosses.
We always think we are never wrong. It is always others who are wrong. This is one sure way to get into more problems.
Even if the problems lie in others and not in us, we often cannot change the world, but we can change ourselves to overcome perceived obstacles. We are always in the cloud and not landed or in touch with the ground - not in touch with reality and ever so subjective and not objective.
Even if the problem is in others but cannot be changed, why is there to need to knock our heads on a rock? We can work around the rock. We can live with the rock and work around it.
The problem comes when we insist that others must change and not us. Then we will never move on in life and have less problems. We end up sore with life and lost with problems aplenty.
The solution lies with insight. We must be mindful of how to move on with life.
We cannot avoid all problems. Some problems can be solved, but some just cannot be solved. Then if we refuse to work around this and live with the problems, we become the greatest problem.
We will not budge as long as the problems are there. We give up. Then we are the greatest problem to ourselves. We become the very reason why we are never happy and get into more hassles and headaches.
Bo Tien 武天 says that the problems and issues of men are many and plentiful. Men often create problems before they can solve problems.
He says that this applies to all, regardless of religions or sects. Neither changing religion nor not changing religion matters. What matters is not to see others as the problem even if they are. We should not be blaming the world, not blaming others and not blaming life. We have to somehow pick ourselves up - change ourselves if we cannot change the world.
We must be the solution and not the problem. Then we will be asset to ourselves and to others as well. Be the solution and all will welcome us and give us less problems.
