No 1381 of Living Life Series 1
Whatever works for religion and spiritual of a person, works well too if applied to life, society and nations be it in economics or any other facets. This Bo Tien 武 天 reiterates.
Thus if there is trend towards less common space and self-protection, the global economics will be less vibrant and all will suffer from the consequence of obliterating or narrowing the common space.
But Bo Tien 武 天 reminds us there must be balance - what sages of old in China refer to as yin yang balance.
If a country works as big brother for other countries at expense of it's own interests, it will not fare well in long run. It will have increasing deficits and one day wind up and be bankrupt. It must be economically well and have surplus before it can benefit others.
If a culture, race or religion is too liberal and allows for adoption of other cultures, races and religions without due concern for its own, then there will be no balance and the culture, race or religion of that country will be eroded and lose its identity.
Then there is no balance and the world be be worse off - poorer in cultural or racial diversity. When there is no balance, no mutual respect and appreciation; dominance of any will create upsets and turmoil. How could there be peace?
Be mindful that what is needed is not to close doors but to enrich one's own by incorporating best practices of others. This can be done to coexist and nurture others simultaneously. This will enlarge the common space.
There is no common space if there is self sacrifice by one or more parties for a dominant party. This applies not just to religion but to all aspects of the world we know and live in. Let there be common space. But let us be wise and know how to do so - to have more common space.
With regards to religion, common space means to see and focus on common values and principles of goodness that lead to purity and inner peace of individuals - which promotes peace in the world.
These values constitute what is the common or inner truth behind all religions. Bo Tien 武 天 wants us to focus on this regardless of what religion we profess and whichever saints we look up to. We have to be open and respect all saints not only the saints we have in our respective religion.
