The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

Religion is good but can be misplaced and misused

No 1377 of Living Life Series 1

Some want to be special and to be in the driving seat of life. As they get more educated and become better people, they are in a hurry to be seen, to be noticed and to be heard.

When they are drowned by the crowd and the many far better than them, they are at a loss and feel very insignificant though ironically they have plenty. Instead of counting their blessings, they feel that they are sidelined and far behind in life.

They want to be in the lead. They want to be counted. What they cannot get in the world they live in, they somehow must feel they can get it though they know that they cannot do so in the reality of the world they are in.

They want to break through the tight net. What can they do? Well, they unknowingly go to where they count and often this is not politics or in the career or even in the family where they sadly and subjectively feel way down in hierarchy.

They grow the dream that they can still be counted and on top. Religion offers that chance to grow this dream - the need to feel they are indeed notables (somebody) and counted.

They create or gravitate to where they can do so in of all places religion. They become the significant and chosen ones not just by men in religion but by God and saints. This makes them feel good and ahead in the world once more. This is good but how good can this be if they are not religious enough and often far from religious at heart.

In reality, God and saints have no such intention to meet their ungodly ego. It is they who have such intention. They turn religion into a monster in their need to break out of insignificance in the real world. Religion fuels hope. They bring the supremacy of religion to the world of reality that they experience as cruel and not making them more outstanding and be counted.

But one day their dream will burst like a balloon and they will be awakened. They must learn many good lessons from their folly. They must never be like that. What are some of these lessons?

They tend to unknowingly take advantage of God and saints to grow the balloon of ego and pride. They must know many things in life are not the end but only the means to the end. What is life for if they like all head relentlessly for worldly success which is good but which is only the stepping stone for a better life?

If worldly success is what is the goal, there will be no end to this. They will end up dying to life even before they are dead. They, in fact all of us, must see through life that worldly gains are just stepping stones to better learn from life - how to be at peace and be happy not just in the prime of life but from cradle to grave. These we must all learn.

Bo Tien 武天 says that we can learn from one another and be better. We can learn from life. Life itself is the true gospel. There is this inner truth behind and in life. This inner truth is behind life, in life and also in all religions.

Let not religions be excuses to grow the dream of going for more and never know why we have to have more and more - and be sunk and drowned by desires or wants.

Wants are good but only as the means but not the end. The wants change, evolve and devolve though life. But what matters is the end.

The end or goal is to be with life, even worldly life. But mind you, it is not to run away from life which no one can even if he goes to the wild. But all have to make use of life to learn more and be happy with more or with less.

Worldly success is still needed to better position us in life good but only as the means but not the end. The end is how to learn more and more to be with life and to be at peace - to feel satisfied and calm even till the last breath of life.

Worldly success is not a bane but a gain in our path to have more of peace. Worldly success is never meant to be the goal or end.

When young, worldly success means to have money, good job, good business but as we grow old, success have nothing to do with these. The milestones we look for then is to be be able to walk, have reasonable health and be at peace till we drop dead.

This inner truth highlighted by Bo Tien 武天 is in all religions. But many just don't get it. Instead, they will end up cheese off not only with life but with religion - not because of the making of God and saints but of their own making.

Bo Tien 武天 points out that some think that to be religious and be at peace, one must run from life. No, we can be with life and not give up life if we want to go for spiritual - inner peace and joy come what may - the yin and the yang, the ups and the downs, be it in life or in death.
