No 1249 of Living Life Series 1
There is but one truth. It is the truth of goodness that is God.
Regardless of who we think God is, he is what goodness is all about. What is goodness boils down to what is pure and wholesome.
Everyone even the murderer knows what is goodness and believe in goodness in some way. Goodness is there amid diversity.
There must be feeling of oneness amid diversity. Religions are about oneness and diversity - oneness in what is good and of God, and diversity in ways people approach this oneness.
All are one in God - never mind who and what is God. God is the truth. God is the Word. The Word is God. There is no need to know more.
What God or any saint wants us to do is to be good - to be pure. This is easy to accept. This is a simple concept but yet profound and may take years, decades and many lifetimes to cultivate.
To be mindful of the need to be good is good enough. A little more good is good enough - never mind if we are still not good enough.
The very presence of many religions is because we are not good enough and we may even be more bad than good.
But do not have guilt. Guilt is self deprecation and depreciation. This is not good and reflects ill-will of self.
Ill-will for others is bad enough. Ill-will directed at self is even worse.
We must have love for life our own as well as others. There is need to be pure in thought - to think well of self and others is what many refer to as loving kindness.
The good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 wants us to have true loving kindness. This must include kindness to self. There must be no guilt. Guilt is ill-will to self. This concept is applicable to all religions and cultures.
How can there be loving kindness to others when there is no love for self - when we hate the self? But love for self cannot be taking away from others and making them worse off. Taking advantage of others to one's own advantage is not love for others. We misuse others' trust in us. We make use of others for our own good.
We end doing damaging ourselves. We fan up our ugly ego. We are not good to self and if we are like that, how to be good to others?
Worse still, we may end up hypocritical. Outwardly, we display love for others but at heart we only do so for our own interests. How can that be sincere?
Yes, there may be some good for others but there is more good for ourselves. Ego is the root of evil. False view that ego is everything in life is the devil. Denial of life is the other false view arising from wrong view that we must reject ourselves.
Have no delusions, no greed and ill-will. This will slowly put us on the path to be more good - more pure. Then we will be closer to God and saints, otherwise we may be far though near to God and saints. The message by the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 ever stirs our thinking and mindfulness.
Why make a great show of how good we are in a house of God and saints when we still have need to blow up our ego, do good only because we can have more for self - only to give ourselves much more that we give to others. We are then far though near to goodness, God and saints.
