No 1121 of Living Life Series 1
Whoever says that to be saved we must believe in one religion over others is just being unconvincing more so when the many in the same religion cannot agree with one another on what to believe and how to believe and practice. That is exactly why there are the denominations and the sects.
Whoever says that all religions will do is more correct but if they say that those who believe in no religion are lost to salvation and are making sweeping statement.
Didn't all religions or rather God and all saints say that what matters is the Word and not the belief in God or saints. Belief is not enough. Of course the belief in God or saints should rightfully bring one to the Word.
But men passionate with hyper-grace preached that belief in God or saint will do. They say God and saints will pay for the imperfections of men. They suffer on behalf of men. They pay for the imperfections of men to make them perfect and enlightened. This is the movement of hyper-grace.
This contradicts the teaching that God or saint is the Word. The Word is God. This is pointed by the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨 when he says that the image is the Word and the Word is the image.
Without giving due regards to the Word and practicing it, how can men be saved? If we agree that the Word behind all saints is to do good, avoid bad and to purify the mind, then the hyper-grace movement poses issues.
Can we be wilfully impure or bad and do what we want and then go for confession and seek grace and be saved? That is tantamount to say that we can be bad but if we believe in a saint we can pass our wrong to him. He will suffer for our wrong and we will be redeemed.
This is simply too good not to believe and accept for the many. Redemption through hyper-grace is great. It is one way to the ultimate but not the only way. It is perhaps a steeping stone to ultimate enlightenment. It may work for some but not for all. It may be their only way for now.
A moderated and tempered version is practiced in Mahayana Buddhism. Moderated it is because there is need to be good to be worthy of being saved by grace. But some say that many may just go the easy way. Just believe but continue to be bad and be saved.
But without the moderated approach, the reach of Buddhism or for that matter any religion will be severely hampered. Without this approach which some still regard as hyper-grace, many souls will be lost.
