No 1043 of Living Life Series 1
People who are the least spiritual go to a temple for worldly nectar, just like insects and ants going to the flower for nectar. This was mentioned by the good lord Lord Bo Tien 武天菩萨.
But if this is what they want, so long as they do some good, they will get it. Doing good is the first step in the call to spiritual. But often more get sidelined and go for worldly nectar. They want worldly gains which become the ends and not the means to spiritual.
For those more savvy with the world and want worldly nectar, certainly there is more out there beyond the temple. Many will end up going for this and the temple becomes no longer their arena of orbit or at most their minor or subsidiary domain.
Are you one of them? If you are, it is time to reflect and make good. The good lord says that it is unavoidable that people ask for worldly blessings or nectar. This is what all want and this will enable them to have easier life and hopefully easier life will facilitate awakening of the spiritual horizon.
There is need to meet worldly needs but this is only the means to the end. The end is heaven and peace here and now.
But how to have peace if we lust for more of the world? The quest for more and more brings no peace.
At the other extreme, how can there be peace and heaven when we deny our worldly nature and forgo the flesh.
All of us must know what is the purpose or call of life. What is the purpose or call of life? May peace be with you.
Sometimes, a period of fasting may serve as a wake up call. One such fasting is the 49 days purity observance before mission day of the good lord. Then people learn to have less and yet have more. They have peace with less - avoiding none and one too many.
