Have not we noticed that for all religions that we know, God and saints have only been openly vocal and manifest through their prophets in the opening years? Thereafter they were active behind the scene.
Before the coming of the prophet, there is of course the backdrop history or culture upon which we could learn what were the beliefs and spiritual norms and traditions.
There were of course imperfections and the prophets came to correct them and right the wrong. This they did.

After the coming, what remained for men of religion to do was to understand, elaborate and to create the more elaborate ways or traditions to revolutionize the platform for dissemination of the teachings of the prophets.
The prophets in their times set forth the out of bound markers and have their own ways to bring people to their fold. These became the basis of what we knew as the beginnings of religions.
Once the institution of religions were formalised over the years and matured by men over the centuries, the link with God and saints is through the world of men and by men with men.
There is then more of silence of Heaven but the men of religions do not seem to think that this is so. They think the silence of Heaven is the way Heaven communicates with them.
There is the Word of the prophets and despite the silence, they hear the call of Heaven loud and clear. Who says heaven is silent when men still hear the prophets loud and clear through the written word and through the deliberations of men of the prophets over the centuries?
But amid the noise and loudness of men with the apparent backdrop of heavenly silence, there will be some who want to know why they cannot keep their heart silent and peaceful. They want to know why they seem to be unsettled by the noises that are the making of men of religion.
Men become the barrier that separates them from God and saints above. They have to know God and saints through other men and the makings of men. They want in their hearts to get to God and saints direct but God and saints seem silent but they do hear noises of men loud and clear. This is good but not as good.
They must go upstream away from the noise and mud of the downstream. Lord Bo Tien said that men should go for clear water and can only do so by going to upper source.
Then they will no longer think Heaven is silent and they will hear not the noises of men but they will hear Heaven loud and clear. Heaven then is no longer silent and then they realise for the first time that the silence of Heaven is the making of men.
Men drowns out the voice of Heaven with the chatter and clutter they bring with them as the practices and traditions in religion. Traditions, conventional practices and dogmas are good for the day but with time, they can drown away the voice of Heaven.
We then think Heaven is silent and the only way to hear Heaven loud and clear is to go away from the chatter of men to the upper source. The silence of Heaven may be the making of men.
Saints like Ji Gong and Bo Tien try to bring the voice of Heaven by coming down from time to time to be with men and let men know that Heaven is not silent but that it seems so because of the chatter of men.
