Thou shall not call the name of God and saints in vain. But in the case of Bodhisattvas and Buddhas, it may be the thing to do.
Of course, we do need to be worthy to call their names. Saints like Amitabha are however more open than that and go beyond.

If insects do not get nectar from the flower, where else can they do so. If men who are ungodly and unsaintly need help, even if they are criminals, they still need to turn to God and saints. If God and saints deem them unworthy and spurn them, they will be destined to hell and more of hell.
Yes they do not deserve nectar but if the flower do not provide, then where is the recourse? Blame not the flower for insects coming to it. This did Lord Bo Tien say. He also said that the far may be near though far.

The near such as those in temples and churches may well be far if they choose to usurp the place of God and saints and act on their behalf. They make puppets out of God and saints.
God and saints are not dumb but they are tolerant and benevolent when they let men make puppets out of them and when those unworthy of them call out their names.
Many are deep in delusion and very much lost in their delusion. These are the men who need to be in the house of God and saints, more so than the rest. Heaven will accomodate them even if they use the name of God and saints in less worthy ways.
If ever they call out to saints such as Amitabha, of course Amitabha and saints will reach out to them. There is no bargain but just pure compassion and benevolence on the part of Amitabha. They may not deserve blessings and help in eyes of men but not in the eyes of heavenly saints like Amitabha.
Do call out the name of God and saints. Seek and ye shall find. Ask and it shall be given. This is how saints like Amitabha bring the wayward and those men condemned to hell to their fold and rehabilitate them here and in the hereafter, such as in The Pure Land of Amitabha. Namo Amitabha.
Do call out his name even if others think it is not right. All are worthy of help, even those who are deemed to be way out of line and criminalised by men of inflated egos. Men should not judge when God and saints don't judge but instead love all and reach out to all.
It is never in vain to call out the name of God and saints. This is the way those who are plugged into ungodly ways of life have hope of plugging into godly ways.
They may not do so for now but Heaven is patient, tolerant and can wait though many men cannot wait, have no patience and no tolerance.
God and saints are benevolent. Men should know that and not stop fellow men from calling out to God and saints just because they think these men do not deserve to do so. There is no such issue as calling out name in vain.
But alas, men who stop others from calling out the name of God and saints in vain are among the many in temples and churches whom God and saints want to give much leeway. This is so that they can make good one fine day and be blessing to themselves and to society.
This is divine purpose of Heaven in facilitating the calling of God and saints even by men who are deemed unworthy. Men who put themselves on the pedestal to judge and scorn often fail to see the divine purpose, even if given the crystal ball. The world at large is indeed the crystal ball for such men to learn and be better off from the learning.
Amitabha paves the way so that men can be in paradise even before they are good enough to be there on their own merits. They are good enough to be there by the grace of Amitabha and the saints in the Buddha land we know as Pure Land or Western Paradise.
Heaven is god-given to man even before he deserves to be there so that he can cultivate Tao and secure his place. So if a man calls out to a saint, it is never in vain even if he don't seem worthy based on his existing merits. Man is saved by grace of saint like Amitabha to be in Heaven to cultivate Tao and secure his place in Heaven.
