The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

The "I thoughts" that all should not have, more so in death

No 1478 of Living Life Series 1

The instructors sent by Lord Bo Tien武天advise that when someone passes on from this life, it is important to dissipate the "I thoughts" and not to enhance such thoughts or energy fields .

This "I thoughts" are the ego thoughts of the deceased due to the desire of the deceased to hang on to life of the body and to the physical entity or self that he has been so used to.

The risk is that the spirit of the deceased may be dominated by the "I thoughts." These constitutes the upfront self which is due to life of the flesh and blood experienced with the six sense doors - the five sense doors such as nose, eyes tongue, touch and ear as well as the mind sense door that takes up mind objects.

This is the stand-in self and not the eventual true self that is innate in him, yet to be developed and that will be pure and independent of ego.

In life, the upfront self dominates and masquerades as the only self. The true self is made rudimentary and undeveloped. The developed true or divine self will pure and be the one that attains inner peace.

Some religions refer to the divine or true self as the presence of God in us. God is omnipresent and can reside in every individual who cultivates inner peace. What then is this inner peace?

To put things in perspective, it is the cultivation of the inner peace come what may be it the ups and downs, the yin and yang that brings out and awakens the true divine self and the divine self expresses the presence of God in the individual. That way, the upfront and defiled self (defiled by ego drives) is subdued and eventually eliminated.

The upfront defiled self is ego based and based on need to meet ego needs and this is inevitable in world of yin and yang. It generates the "I thoughts" that linger on after death and may be given more life and vigour if the living kins and friends call upon him not to leave but to come back even when the body is dead and rotting.

There is risk of transforming the spirit of the departed to become a wandering ghost and neither here nor there - neither in hell, human world or in heaven. It is better to send the departed without groans and tears to a better future for the afterlife. No wailing but smiles and cheers to send him off. This is the correct approach.

So, it is so important not to encourage the ego and fan the "I thoughts" not just while a person is alive but even when the body die on the individual.

It is necessary that all should not stress on the "I thoughts" more so in death. Otherwise, there will be more devils of the ego among the living and many lingering spirits or wandering ghosts among the departed who either refuse or are somehow reluctant to have rebirth or resurrection of spirit even in heaven.
