The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord Bo Tien (武天菩萨). The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affiliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. Needless to say that all the saints we know are in this temple. Ji Gong Posat too is no exception. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven. We worship God and saints, not man however good that man may be. There should be no hero worshiping or idolizing of man whether he is a charismatic pastor, priest, monk, medium or lay leader. We don't even idol worship the image of any saint but reflect on what the image stands for. - the doctrine in the image. Omitofo 阿弥陀佛!.

The gift of life is life itself

No 566 of Living Life Series 1

Rare is birth as man. The Buddha said this, did't he? Life as man is the gift of gifts. Life is only traveled once for every moment of life.

So treasure it and make it work for us. What do we want out of life? That is the issue, isn't it?

Certainly it cannot be about the material blessings we can get from this world but has to do with the non-material blessings which we can have and keep in our hearts and which we can bring around with us from moment to moment and from life to life.

Such non-material blessings, like peace of the moment, joy at learning from life and getting wiser, make life more enriching than the material blessings. Isn't that the case?

But we cannot have non-material blessings if we do not have some material blessings to begin with. We still need to live by bread. How much material blessings is an issue that the individual has to decide?

We must not forget though that in life or in death, it is the richness of the heart that counts and not the richness we have around us. As Ji Gong the saint said, " It is what is in the heart that matters..."

But he showed his wisdom in being well balanced and centered in life. He lived in the material world - eating and drinking yet whole and saintly. He is rich in the heart and not in heartless endowment but yet in touch with the material world.

He brings the richness of the heart to men he comes across and they are ever blessed by his wisdom and his touch because he has the heart. He brings life to the lives of men and awakens us to the reality that the gift of life is life itself.

Treasure life and make it work for us. We should not just work for life alone but make life work for us. There is that balance between the two and that dear friends is The Way or Tao. We will have more peace and less strife that way even if we are novices at Tao.

The novice may well arrive at more Tao than the seasoned traveler. Ji Gong was one such example who exceeded that of the senior monks of the monastery in his life as man. This is because he had and did put in more heart into life - his own as well as the lives of others.

He values life. The gift of life is life itself both for men of Tao and for all men. Anyway, Tao is for all men and found in all faiths. It is also for faithful many who profess no faiths for now.

The pivotal teaching of love by all religions and stressed by Lord Bo Tien has to do with the heart and life. The gift of life is none other than life itself. Love it and treasure it.

Enjoy every moment, good or bad and be wiser and better off that way. We may never come this way again. But do not look back but move on with heart for life.

The gift of life is life itself. This is the truth. There is doctrine or truth in life. The doctrine is in life and life is the doctrine or gospel. The gift of truth or life excels all other gifts. Didn't the Buddha said so? Yes, he did albeit in somewhat different but parallel light.
Saints give us life through the Word or Doctrine. The Word is God. Life is the Word and the Word is Life. The gift of life is the gift of The Word. The gift of life is life itself. There is the living gospel or Word in life for us to learn and be wiser from the learning.
