No 1462 of Living Life Series 1
Long is the day when we are unhappy and not at peace. Short is the day when we are happy and at peace.
But when we rush through the day as though there is no time and turn night into day with no time to sleep and rest, we are not at peace and will be unhappy. We end up stuck with thoughts and bodily discomfort and we live as though we have no blessings and good things in life.
We ask God why he has forsaken us when we are the ones who have forsaken ourselves. We are the cause of our own sorry state.
But the odd part is that we do not blame ourselves but blame others and even God.
If we blame Satan, we live in fear of being possessed by Satan. So we do not think about Satan but others in church may think we are and make us live in fear.
Anyway, we are the cause of our own woes due to being not at peace and will obviously be unhappy. This has nothing to do with Satan and God.
In life, we always see others having problems and we accept that this is life. But we do not think we will have problems and when problems affect us, we ask why we must have problems. We ask, 'Why me?' We never ask why others must have problems.
Problem is in life and the way is to handle problem if we can but make do and move on if we cannot. We do have more good things happening in life than the not good.
In life, we often chose what to believe but when told what we are supposed to believe but may hold some truth, we just shut off for fear of going against the thinking of peers. We shrink into our world of belief systems. We just stay put in our narrow world of make belief. That is how we keep ourselves sane and in tune with our peers. But we are not in tune with the rest of the world.
That is convergent thinking which is useful but yet not so. We need to diverge and open up our mind. But risk is that we can get lost with open mind or what is divergent thinking. Staying put means we stop thinking. Convergent thinking is bad in that sense but may be better than being lost in divergent thinking. There must be balance.
Thus we have to accept the different opinions of people even of those who are in our own social circle and whom we think should think the same way. No two can think alike. No two can have the same mix of convergent and divergent thinking.
A lesson to learn is for us to share the same activities with others. We do not need to have the same thinking before we can enjoy the same activities. But this is easier said than done.
We must thank Bo Tien 武 天 for telling us this. This happens in and applies to any family, society, religion, sect, temple or culture. No two can think alike but can still have fellowship.
