Of all things about God and saints, how men perceive about them is not the making of Heaven but the making of men. Men are behind it all. God and saints appear helpless or rather leave it to men to learn and to learn on their own.
History is replete with stories of men loving God to extent of creating wars or terrorizing other men when they champion God and saints. This is as though if they do not do so, the sky will drop for sure.
On the other side of the coin, history also throws out examples of empires making God and saints as helpless and powerless when such mighty men of empires decided to make mincemeat or nobody out of the saints of God.
But men who loved God and saints of God did make martyrs out of the saints of God. This only created the inevitable. They made God and saints what they thought God and saints should be and not what they were and still are.
So much said about how we feel about them but what is the impact God and saints have on us? How they impact us too is not their making but again the making of men. We fear God or a saint when men tell us that God or his saint is wrathful and jealous and that there should be no other God or saint before the eyes of men.
But that would be belittling God and any saint. God and any saint are beyond ill will, anger and falsehood. They are full of border-less love and wisdom. They will accept us men for what we are.
They have to accept us for what we are and shower us with love and even blessings where appropriate so that we can be what we are not and what we should be in time to come but not overnight.
That God has to love and accept us for what we are before we can be what God wants us to be is the way of God. This truly is God. He is not in need of our praises for he is God. The same applies to all saints.
But dear friends, only men tell us that God is to be feared as he will punish if he doubts us. They may even add that we have sinned and fall short of the expectations of God. The way men supposedly of God threaten us with God or saint makes a devil out of God and saint.
Men should not even fear the devil if he is sheltered by God and saints. In fact the real devil is man himself.
Why must men fear and abhor God and saint? Though many knew they need not fear God, the exhortations of men often at the pulpit make them nauseous and create wrong connotations.
They end up fearing God, if not loathing God in some way. Men must have insight and understanding. God gives us free will and why would he want us to fear him? We should love him and love life especially our own.
There should be no fear and no sin. Why there is no sin but only wrong? We simply do not wrong God but we can wrong other men and wrong ourselves. We can do more than just live in fear of life and loathing life. We must awaken ourselves and live up to life with love.
In 1975 message of Lord Bo Tien, the lord saint spoke of love that makes the world go round and more complete. There is no place for fear of God. We do not sin or hurt God when we do no right. But we hurt ourselves and can do better.
If there is divine love, there is no jealousy, anger, fear or guilt. Divine love is pure and untainted by all these.
Only ungodly imperfect men will instill fear when they talk of God and saints. Only pitiful men shallow in doctrine and grasp of God and saints will loathe God because they feel guilt gnawing away at their hearts.

Lord Bo Tien once said. The flower should not be blamed for insects coming to it. Blame not the flower. A saint like Lord Bo Tien should not be blamed for insects coming to the flower. Saints should not be blamed if men like insects come to a flower and impose their own ways in the temple of the saint, be this fear, love or loathe of God or saint.
The course of behavior is entirely human and not divine. Men are behind it. Whether it is right or wrong, far or near to God and doctrine of Heaven is a matter of judgement. But as the lord saint Lord Bo Tien did say, the far may be near and the near far.
Those in a temple or church may well be far from Heaven though near and in a house of God or saint. But can we be sure when though their attitude to God is questionable?
They are still learning, sort of in transit and their fear, love or loathe of God is just part of the learning and a passing phase. Such people however project the current image of their religion and this can be both good and not so good.
It depends on the beholder. What is beautiful or not, what is right or wrong is in the mental eyes of the beholder - perhaps dependent on spiritual cultivation or Tao / Way as the sages of old in China said ages ago. Specifically and to be more exact, it depends on the level and context of cultivation.
How can this be not the case or rather how can matters not devolve to such when sages of old too said that everything is nothing and nothing is everything. The circle is iconic of nothing or emptiness, yet it can in a way represent everything and wholeness - sort of completeness. This may often sound illogical to many just like the saying that birth is death and death is birth (rebirth is death and death is rebirth).
Religion as it is today is evolved from that of yesterday. Religion is ever made and remade by men and Lord Bo Tien wants us to know we need to go to upper source for clear water. The way men love, fear or loathe a saint or God is just manifestation of religion today but what was it like in the beginning? This may be too deep for some. Then so be it and stay with the religion you know today so long as you are comfortable with it and have the peace divine for now.
But sometimes as we progress spiritually, we want to know more and why things are like this or that? We want to know the yin when there is the yang and then we want to know both, and in time the wholeness and balance of yin and yang. We want to be atop the yin and yang as depicted by the feet of the image of Lord Bo Tien in seated pose. This is the doctrine in the image of the lord saint.
